Overview
Be part of the nation’s only repository for the disposal of nuclear waste known as Transuranic (TRU) waste.
Salado Isolation Mining Contractors, LLC (SIMCO), managing and operating contractor of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is currently seeking a qualified individual to serve as a **_Accounting Clerk_** and join our team located in Carlsbad, New Mexico.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will audit, key and transmit payroll (overtime, adjustments, etc.) for salary and/or weekly paid employees. Prepare weekly/salary payroll entries and reconcile payroll accounts on a monthly basis. Submit funding request and reconcile by matching transfers from the current financial institution. Process wire transfers and deposits to the current financial institution. Issue manual checks and stop payments for salary/weekly paid employees. Generate information from ADP and other financial systems and prepare reports. Process employee transfers, check outs and final pay including adjustments (vacation, etc.) for SIMCO employees. Process employee timesheet correction forms and process labor to the PeopleSoft financial module. Maintain desktop manuals and Accounting Manual chapters. Respond to employee questions and concerns. Position requires a high degree of ethics and ability to maintain confidentiality of employee information.
Minimum Requirements

+ Associate’s degree with two (2) years of business or payroll related experience, or
+ High School Diploma or Equivalency with four (4) years of business or payroll related experience is required.
+ Ability to work overtime on weekends and holidays in order to meet the payroll processing schedule is mandatory.

Preferred Requirements
+ Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business, or Accounting.
+ Experience with ADP or Payroll processing software is a plus.
+ Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite is desired.
+ Good oral and written communication skills are preferred.
+ Previous WIPP Project experience is a plus.

Non-exempt grade levels 24-30. Minimum salary $53,509 per year of a larger salary range --the specific salary offered to a candidate will be influenced by a variety of factors, particularly the candidate’s relevant experience and education.
