Be part of the nation’s only repository for the disposal of nuclear waste known as Transuranic (TRU) waste.
Salado Isolation Mining Contractors, LLC (SIMCO), managing and operating contractor of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is currently seeking a qualified individual to serve as a **_Accounting Clerk_** and join our team located in Carlsbad, New Mexico.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will obtain approval and submit invoices for each pay cycle in IFMS for various benefit providers that bill on a pay cycle basis. Submit invoices on a monthly basis in the IFMS system, obtain approval from the Payroll and Benefits Accounting Manager and disposition payments with appropriate supporting documentation for benefit vendors on a monthly basis. Obtain approval and submit tax related invoices in IFMS on a quarterly basis for various states in which SIMCO has employees. Log all incoming checks into a shared folder, date stamp and distribute for processing prior to deposit. Assist with correspondence to employees regarding pension and 401K matters, garnishments and union payments. File all accounts payable invoices after payment has been completed. Distribute and date stamp all mail to Finance and Accounting section employees. Obtain certification as a purchase requisitioner and prepare requisitions for the Chief Financial Officer's organization as needed. Obtain certification as a Procurement Card holder and maintain office supply stock. Coordinate the Signature Authority Process. Assist with the Contractor Compensation and Benefits (formerly known as the Report of Contractor Expenditures for Employee Supplemental Compensation} for submittal to DOE by March 15th of each year. Assist with General Ledger payroll account reconciliations. Obtain and maintain certification as a Records Coordinator. Provide clerical support for Finance & Accounting/CFO/Procurement upon request.
Minimum Requirements

+ Associate’s degree with two (2) years of related business experience, or
+ High School Diploma or Equivalency with four (4) years of related business experience is required.
_Must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information._
Preferred Requirements
+ Experience using the PeopleSoft Financial System.
+ Experience using ADP Work Force Now and ADP Time is desired.
+ Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, good oral and written communication skills are preferred.
+ One (1) year of Payroll/Accounts Payable of experience in an office setting is desired.
+ Previous WIPP Project experience is a plus.

Non-exempt grade levels 24-26. Minimum salary $53,509 per year of a larger salary range --the specific salary offered to a candidate will be influenced by a variety of factors, particularly the candidate’s relevant experience and education.
