    Position Description

    We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Claims Appeals Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will have at least five years of experience in claims processing and evaluation, with a desired background in disaster-related losses. This role involves interpreting federal policies, assessing damages, and providing excellent customer support. If you are proficient in using technology to facilitate claims processing and communication, we want to hear from you.

    As a Claims Appeals Specialist, you will:

    + • Conduct detailed evaluations of disaster-related claims, determining the extent of damages and validity of losses.• Ability to match the claims determination baseline to added data & documentation from the claim appeals.• Review appeals information and reassess the claims determination.• Interpret complex federal policy language, including statutes, regulations, and guidelines, to ensure accurate claims processing.• Assist with document retrieval, review of cases under appeal, and developing recommendations.• Assess losses and determine appropriate repair and replacement costs for damaged properties.• Communicate effectively with claimants, FEMA staff, and other stakeholders, offering clear explanations of policies and claim processes.• Employ claims management software and databases to enhance the efficiency of claims documentation and communication.• Provide high-quality customer service by addressing and resolving inquiries related to property claims.• Collaborate with team members and external partners to ensure timely and accurate resolution of claims.• Stay informed of industry trends and regulatory updates affecting the processing of claims.

     

    Candidates must be within commuting distance of Santa Fe, NM or willing to deploy. Hotels and per diem will be provided to those candidates who deploy.

     

    In compliance with state and local laws regarding pay transparency, the target salary is $50,000 - $75,000; however, Serco considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills.

    Qualifications

    To be successful in this role, you must have:

    + High School Diploma.

    + Minimum of five years of combined experience in claim/case processing roles, with a focus on customer service, data entry, and loss evaluation.

    + Ability to understand and interpret complex federal policy language with precision.

    + Proficient in disaster-related assessments and cost evaluations for losses and damages.

    + Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to explain policies and procedures effectively.

    + Proficiency in using claims management software, databases, and tools to enhance documentation and communication.
