Custom Job Purpose:
This position exists to perform responsible administrative professional work in helping direct the design and coordination of School District building projects.
Essential Functions of this Job
Assists the Director and facilitates or directs all project coordinators on the remodel and major construction projects county wide; oversees them in the field; and trains new Project Coordinators for the-Polk County School Board Directs and coordinates Design .Professionals for construction projects. Reviews construction documents. Assists in preparation of cost estimates and budgets. Develops time schedules for construction projects. Assists in setting priorities for construction projects. Supervises in the field, the work of the Project Coordinators, Building Inspectors, and Quality Control Technicians with discipline, and performance evaluations of these personnel.
Recommends the appointment of consultants for small projects. Interprets SREF regulations and building codes. Schedules inspections and obtains a Certificate of Occupancy. Administers warranty period for new facilities. Research information for bid preparation; receives and analyzes bids, makes recommendations concerning award of contracts. Prepares, administers, and
approves payments to contractors. Prepares legal ads and contracts. Makes periodic reports on construction progress. Assist in writing Standard Operation Procedures and Maintains construction files and records

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Thorough knowledge of architectural and engineering principles and procedures related to educational facilities design, construction, and operation. Thorough knowledge of professional consultants# business practices, legal aspects of contact warranty administration, building laws, codes, and regulations. Thorough knowledge of building construction and inspection methods and procedures, types and qualities of building materials, construction planning and scheduling methods. Ability to plan, assign and supervise subordinate personnel and
to maintain effective working relationships with school personnel, architects, engineers, contractors, attorneys, media personnel and the public. Bilingual/biliterate preferred.
Education, Experience and/or Certification/License Requirements
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in engineering, building construction, or Construction Management; or 8 years of construction management and construction trade experience.
Work Context:
Requires some sitting and standing, walking, and moving about to coordinate work. Requires the use of communication systems, such as electronic mail, text, telephones, and computers.
Requires coordination of work tasks to establish priorities, set goals and meet deadlines. Requires face-to-face discussions and contact with individuals and/or teams. Requires work with internal and external contacts, and with the public
Physical Environment:
Requires working both indoors and outdoors. Requires sitting for most of the day and the ability to lift, carry, move and/or position objects infrequently weighing up to 20 pounds. Requires travel to schools and worksites within the district.
