    Job Description

    The Department of Technology, Management and Budget (https://youtu.be/H\_IrVnVjcoA) supports the business operations of state agencies through a variety of services, including building management and maintenance, information technology, centralized contracting and procurement, budget and financial management, space planning and leasing, construction management, motor vehicle fleet operations, and oversight of the state retirement systems.

     

    To install, maintain, troubleshoot, repair and replace building automation systems (BAS) and utility metering systems for state-owned and/or operated buildings. Includes system components such as thermostats, valves, pneumatic controls, direct digital controls, variable air volume controls, and hydronic and steam systems associated with heating, cooling and ventilation.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

    Knowledge related to HVAC, electrical or electronic controls.

     

    Ability to utilize computerized systems and software.

     

    Ability to learn various industry specific building automation computer applications from manufacturers such as Tridium, Honeywell, TRANE, Siemens and Johnson Controls.

    Required Education and Experience

    Education

    Possession of an associate's degree in electrical, electromechanical, electronics engineering, or electronics technology.

    Experience

    Equipment Technician 8

     

    No specific type or amount is required.

     

    Equipment Technician 9

     

    One year of experience in the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical and electronic equipment equivalent to an Equipment Technician 8.

     

    Equipment Technician E10

     

    Two years of experience in the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of electrical and electronic equipment equivalent to an Equipment Technician, including one year equivalent to an Equipment Technician 9.

     

    Alternate Education and Experience

     

    Four years of experience in the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical and electronic equipment may be substituted for the education requirement. This is in addition to the experience requirements for the specific levels.

     

    A certificate from a two year, post-secondary, technical program in electrical, electromechanical, or electronics technology may be substituted for the education requirement.

     

    Possession of a bachelor's degree or higher with 16 semester (24 term) credits in job specific or related course work qualifies for the Equipment Technician 10 level.

    Vacation and Sick Leave:Eligible full-time employees receive between15 and 35 personal daysand 13 sick daysper year that may be rolled over to the following year if not used. Eligible employees also receive an additional day each year for community service or school functions.

     

    Paid Parental Leave:Eligible employees can take 12 weeks of paid leaveimmediately after a birth or adoption to allow needed time together at home with a new child.

     

    Paid Holidays:Eligible employees receive 13 or 14 paid holidays each year including New Year’s Eve and Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents’ Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, the Fourth of July, Labor Day, Election Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving Friday, Christmas Eve and Day.
