Job Summary
The University of Utah – Financial Service Technology Support ( FSTS ) is seeking a highly motivated entry-level business analyst to join our team and play a pivotal role in ensuring that our Financial Services processes are efficient, compliant, and continuously improving.
Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates data to assess the needs of our Financial Services district business owners. The candidate will be skilled at both qualitative and quantitative analyses and can communicate findings clearly. The candidate will work closely with district leaders to define data for assessing the effectiveness and impact of Financial Services.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with Clients.
o Engage with clients to understand their unique business needs.
o Manage ongoing business partners relationship to provide satisfaction with UIT .
o Proactively resolve customer satisfaction issues.
o Works collaboratively with business owners to determine areas where data collection and analysis are needed to understand how financial data is collected and utilized.
Create Reports.
o Design and develop interactive Power BI dashboards and both recurring and ad hoc reports using Power BI, Excel, and other tools to visualize KPIs and support data-driven business decisions.
o Ensure reports are accurate, timely, and aligned with business goals.
o Document report logic, data sources, and assumptions for transparency and reproducibility.
Data Analysis.
o Use various tools (e.g., Power BI, Excel, SQL , Tableau) to analyze data.
o Present relevant data to inform decision-making in support of Financial Services initiatives.
o Identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities through data exploration and visualization.
o Perform root cause analysis to support operational improvements and strategic planning.
Support and Operations
o Support the FS team with service requests, prioritizations, and other duties as assigned.
o Provide training and support to end-users on how to interpret and use dashboards and reports.
o Monitor data quality and escalate issues as needed to ensure data integrity.

Minimum Qualifications
Requires a bachelor’s degree in related area or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience). Two to four years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.

Preferences
Effective Communication and Interpersonal skills.
o Demonstrated experience in producing data-rich reports that are easily understood by various stakeholders.
Technical Background.
o PeopleSoft Query preferred.
o SQL preferred.
o Experience with BI tools, SQL , relational, and multidimensional database designs.
o Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Power BI)
Problem-Solving Skills & Analytical Thinking.
o Ability to analyze requirements and establish protocols.
o Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
