    Job Summary

    The Pharmacy Services Department is looking for a skilled pharmacist with contracting experience to join our team. In this role, you will be primarily responsible for proper contracting, negotiating, and revenue management support for University of Michigan Health. You will ensure contracting requirements are met and provides analysis, problem resolution, auditing, reporting, process recommendations and training for optimal business outcomes. You will oversee pharmaceutical vendor business relationships and strategy. You will work with multi-disciplinary teams to accomplish these goals.

     

    Additional responsibilities involve regular pharmacist supply chain operations, managing shortages, and contributing to pharmacy supply chain strategy.

    Responsibilities*

    + Negotiating pharmaceutical contracts with vendors, reviewing contract terms, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies

    + Analyzing data, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and implementing strategies to improve supply chain efficiency.

    + Working with internal teams (pharmacy, finance, logistics, procurement, legal) and external stakeholders (vendors, suppliers) to achieve goals.

    + Tracking key performance indicators (KPIs), preparing reports on supply chain performance, and identifying areas for improvement.

    + Maintain industry best practices for pharmaceutical product sourcing and contracting.

    + Ensure Pharmacy Contracting related policies and procedures are current and adhered to internally and externally.

    + Support daily pharmacist duties on the Pharmacy Supply Chain team.

    + Communicate with suppliers for updates on drug availability.

    + Assess and identify alternative medications available during shortages.

    + Create mitigation strategies to address drug supply disruptions.

    + Provide oversight to and collaborate with other pharmacy managers and clinical pharmacist specialists on pharmaceutical product conversions.

    + Provide oversight to or lead committees, task forces, and performance improvement teams as needed.

    + Responsible for the recruitment, retention, performance enhancement and competency assessment of direct reports. Provide for effective employee relations to promote employee-manager effectiveness and satisfaction in the workplace.

    + Future job responsibilities could include payer contracting, strategy, and relations.

    + Other duties as assigned.

    SUPERVISION RECEIVED

    This position will report to the Assistant Director of Pharmacy Supply Chain.

    SUPERVISION EXERCISED

    This position will provide supervision over Clinical Information Analysts that support the work of the Pharmacy Supply Chain Contracting Manager.

    Required Qualifications*

    + Bachelor of Science in pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited college of pharmacy.

    + Licensure in good standing, or immediate eligibility for Licensure, as a Registered Pharmacist with an active controlled substance license in the State of Michigan.

    + 3 years of pharmacy experience.

    Desired Qualifications*

    + Pharmacy supply chain experience

    + Drug supply chain contracting experience

    + Strong leadership skills

    + Exceptional data analysis competence

    + Experience leading contracting negotiations for multiple entities

    + Completion of a pharmacy residency and/or fellowship

     

    Work Schedule

     

    This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday. As part of Michigan Medicine?s Flexible First Workplace initiative, this position has an opportunity for a hybrid (both onsite work and remotely) or remote work arrangement based on business needs of the unit.

     

    As a Pharmacy Manager, this position will be required to participate in the Administrator On-Call rotation for the department.

    Additional Information

     

    Must comply with all Michigan Medicine Occupational Health requirements including annual flu immunization.

     

    Background Screening

     

    Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
