    Job Overview:

    As the Director of School Operations, you'll assume the central role in driving the achievement of exceptional performance at Connections Academy Schools in alignment with Charter and/or SOA (contractual) requirements and Pearson Virtual Schools (PVS) Dynamic Schools Model tenets. Your primary accountability includes oversight of school operations and management (including but not limited to school performance, state and federal school compliance, school financial health and retention of customers) through the implementation and practice of the established PVS strategies and protocols. Specifically, you will ensure schools implement PVS aligned, research-based strategies for school improvement, orchestrate comprehensive operational support through various departments, and design and implement strategic initiatives to enhance customer retention achieved via PVS cross functional work between all departments.

     

    This position will support and manage a group of school leaders and requires adept school leadership and people management skills to successfully achieve results. The position is a critical focal point for a collaborative effort across various PVS departments such as Academic Impact, Service Delivery, Human Resources, School Financial Services, Partnerships & Policy, and Board Relations, ensuring holistic support across all operational facets.

     

    Your proficiency in school leadership will extend to organization-wide endeavors aimed at providing professional development and growth opportunities for leadership teams and prospective school leaders. This involves collaborative initiatives such as the Leadership Academy, conference planning and organization, and monthly School Leader Training/PD sessions, among others.

     

    Furthermore, you'll play a pivotal role in fostering robust relationships with board members and key stakeholders from authorizing entities, establishing a foundation of trust and collaboration essential for sustained success.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Comprehensive School Management & Operational Support:

    Support school leader in oversight of day-to-day operations of the school and adherence to established protocols, procedures and PVS Dynamic School Model best practices.

     

    Serve as the main liaison between school leaders and PVS departments to support operational excellence and student outcomes.

     

    Manage budgetary planning and resource allocation to support academic initiatives, facility maintenance, staffing needs, and other operational requirements.

     

    Analyze school performance and engagement data regularly to identify trends and areas for improvement. Discuss actionable insights with school leaders/leadership teams during regularly scheduled meetings.

     

    Collaborate with school leadership teams to develop and implement strategies for student recruitment, enrollment management, and retention, ensuring the school meets its enrollment targets.

     

    Stay abreast of current trends, best practices, and innovations in education management and leadership, incorporating relevant strategies and methodologies to drive continuous improvement and excellence in school operations.

     

    Ensure compliance with state testing regulations and guidelines.

    Leadership Management and Oversight:

    Work closely with school leaders to establish clear objectives and performance goals – including but not limited to improving academic outcomes, increasing success of school operations, school financial health and student retention.

     

    Provide comprehensive guidance, coaching, and support to ensure school leaders consistently surpass goal targets.

     

    Work collaboratively with school leaders and various PVS departments to strategically allocate staff resources to meet budgetary needs.

     

    Hold school leader accountable for the successful planning and execution of state-mandated testing, including logistics, scheduling, and administration.

     

    Conduct regular evaluations of leadership performance (mid and end of year feedback cycles), providing information to the School Board as appropriate.

     

    Undertake performance management for school leaders as required by the employer.

     

    Assume the role of school leader if necessary, both for existing and new schools.

    Operationalizing Instructional Strategies & Improvement Plans:

    Hold school leader accountable for successful development and implementation of a comprehensive school improvement plan.

     

    Collaborate with educators to implement effective instructional strategies aligned with state standards and the Good School Model.

     

    Provide guidance to PVS departments on curriculum development, assessment, and data-driven decision-making as needed.

     

    Support schools in optimizing course choices and instructional practices to improve academic outcomes and meet goals.

     

    Act as an academic operations subject matter expert, collaborating with relevant departments to enhance teaching practices and support new product launches.

     

    Ensure alignment of instructional strategy and improvement plans with state requirements, charter/SOA mandates, curriculum standards, and budget constraints.

     

    Monitor progress and support school leader to make data-driven adjustments to enhance academic outcomes.

    Professional Development of School Leaders and Leadership Teams:

    Identify areas for growth for the school leader and leadership teams and provide tailored coaching to enhance leadership skills.

     

    Drive the creation and execution of strong succession plans, fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the leadership team.

     

    Contribute to the creation of agendas for winter and summer conferences, collaborating with other departments to ensure alignment and effectiveness.

    Contract Development, Execution & Renewal:

    Contribute as a subject matter expert in developing new school proposals.

     

    Contribute as subject matter expert during charter and contract renewal cycles.

     

    Ensure charter/authorizer goals required for renewal are included in strategic plans and account goals early and often to prepare the school for a successful renewal.

     

    Key Requirement

     

    Must hold a valid Professional Certificate in School Leadership.

     

    Compensation at Pearson is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific location. As required by the California, Colorado, Hawaii, Maryland, New York State, New York City, Washington State, and Washington DC laws, the pay range for this position is as follows:

     

    The minimum full-time salary range is between $135,000 - $140,000.
