Director of Data Management
Position Overview
The Director of Data Warehouse is responsible for overseeing the design, development, and management of the organization's data warehouse systems. This role ensures efficient and effective storage, curation, retrieval, and delivery of data to support business decision-making processes and reporting / analytics platforms. The Director will lead a team of data professionals and collaborate with various departments to ensure data integrity, security, and accessibility.
Key Responsibilities
+ Leadership and Management: Lead and manage the data warehouse team, including data architects, data engineers, and analysts. Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities.
+ Strategy Development: Develop and implement a basic data warehouse strategy that aligns with and supports the organization's business goals and objectives.
+ System Design and Development: Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of data warehouse systems, ensuring they meet performance, scalability, and security requirements.
+ Data Integration: Ensure seamless integration of data from various sources into the data warehouse, maintaining data quality and consistency both as structured and unstructured data. May necessitate strategy for selecting and employing ETL tools as well.
+ Data Integration: Will also need to assess organizational need for data lakes and cloud strategy as it plays into an overall data architecture for Baptist.
+ Performance Optimization: Monitor and optimize the performance of data warehouse systems to ensure efficient data processing and retrieval.
+ Collaboration: Work closely with business leaders, IT teams, and other stakeholders to understand data needs and provide solutions that support business objectives.
+ Compliance and Security: Ensure data warehouse systems comply with relevant regulations and standards. Implement robust security measures to protect sensitive data.
+ Budget Management: Manage the budget for data warehouse projects and operations, ensuring cost-effective solutions.
Required Qualifications
+ Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
+ Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in data management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role overseeing data warehouse operations.
+ Technical Skills: Proficiency in data warehouse technologies, ETL processes, SQL, and data modeling. Experience with cloud-based data warehouse solutions is a plus.
+ Leadership Skills: Strong leadership and team management skills. Ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team.
+ Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
+ Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
+ Project Management: Proven experience in managing large-scale data warehouse projects. Strong organizational and project management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Industry Knowledge: Experience in the healthcare industry or other data-intensive sectors.
+ Certifications: Relevant certifications in data management or data warehousing (e.g., Certified Data Management Professional, AWS Certified Solutions Architect).
Working Conditions
+ Travel: Occasional travel may be required.
+ Location: Position may be based at the organization's headquarters or remote, depending on organizational needs.
