    Who will you be working with?

     

    L&M Radiator, Inc. is a global designer, manufacturer, and distributor of MESABI cooling and heat transfer solutions that are custom-made for heavy equipment in the mining, oil, gas, construction and heavy industrial industries. We are looking for an individual to join our Quality Assurance team. The CMM Operator-Programmer will work directly with Production, Production Engineering, Drafting, Design and Applications an will report directly to the Quality Assurance Manager.

     

    How will you make a difference?

     

    This position is responsible for the operation and maintenance of North America’s FARO CMMs. Responsible for training operators on use of the FARO to inspect sub-assemblies and completed assemblies to ensure they meet the required specifications. This position is responsible for creating inspection programs for coordinate measuring machines to measure products physical characteristics such as GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) qualities to ensure that they meet engineering and customer specifications.

     

    What do we want to know about you?

     

    + 18 years of age or older.

    + High School Diploma or GED.

    + Minimum 2 years of manufacturing experience.

    + Creative thinking and problem-solving skills.

    + Self- motivation.

     

    What will your typical day look like?

     

    + Manage the FARO maintenance, trouble shooting and technical support with FARO Technologies.

    + Determine training needs, build training plans, and train operators and programmers on proper use of precision machinery for inspection and programming.

    + Determine program requirements based on design and engineering requirements and program the FARO CMM to take accurate measurements.

    + Ensure that work is performed within the requirements & priorities that are set to meet order deliveries and production and project schedules.

    + Coordinate with other plants and departments on any special projects such as but not limited to; operation, programming, and implementation of the FARO CMM.

    + Concise and accurate recording of inspection findings.

    + Ensure compliance to all ISO 9001 quality standards.

    + May be required to work all shifts as needed.

    + Work with the drafting/engineering departments on any revisions needed.

    + Create work instructions based on any new processes that require additional definition.

    + Maintain a clean and safe work area.

    + Perform work safely and follow all safety guidelines and procedures.

    + Other duties as assigned per supervisor request.

    + Ability to sit for long periods of time.

    + Adaptable to production floor work and requirements.

    + Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively and handle multiple assignments simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

    + Domestic and international travel is possible and could include weekend travel depending on the project.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required for Entry Level:

    + Regular and reliable attendance.

    + Must be able to read blueprints, have drawing system experience to include BOMs (Bill of Materials).

    + Experience with Excel, Word, and PDF’s.

    + Some experience working with SolidWorks or similar drafting software.

    + Some experience or knowledge of precision tools.

    + Ability to understand and carry out simple oral and written instructions.

    + Knowledge of basic math skills.

    + SP knowledge (tolerances).

    + Ability to communicate, in English, effectively and clearly by both written and verbal means.

    + Good at problem solving.

    + Work unsupervised, independently or on a team to complete job orders.

    + Ability to pass a pre-employment written math test, physical, drug and background test.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    + Knowledge of Epicor software or similar ERP system.

    + Experience in Lean Manufacturing.

    + 2-year degree in Machine Programming or similar field.

    + Experience in understanding and application of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).

    + Knowledge and experience with various fabrication processes (i.e., machining, steel prep, welding, assembly, etc.).

    + Experience working within Quality Assurance environment and previous inspection experience.

    + Operating, maintaining, and programming of FARO CMM (or similar).

     

    You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.

     

    This role is also eligible for a performance bonus.

    Wabtec will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the U.S. for this opening. Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a drug screen (as applicable) and fitness for duty test (as applicable).

     

    The hourly range for this role is between $21.00 - $39.00. The actual hourly rate offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands, and work location. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
