Fairview is looking for a Security Officer to join our University of MN Medical Center team in Minneapolis, MN. The Security Officer provides for the safety and security of patients, visitors and staff and property by responding to needs of hospital patients, visitors and staff, offering assistance and providing excellent customer service standards. Proactively works to prevent theft and vandalism. May be involved in high risk situations with exposure to potentially dangerous situations which requires range of safety precautions.
*This position will support our clinic in Maple Grove, MN as well as the University of MN Medical Center in Minneapolis, MN.
Schedule:
+ 0.78 FTE (62 hours per pay period)
+ evening shift
+ every other weekend
Week 1: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 2p-730p Friday 2p-530p
Week 2: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 2p-730p, Friday 2p-530p, Saturday 7a-1230p
+ Patrols designated areas according to established procedures and documents patrols in daily shift reports.
+ Documents daily activities in report writing system.
+ Provides assistance to patients, visitors and staff.
+ Responds to calls for services.
+ Assists in the control (often physical) of potentially violent individuals which requires strength, stamina, flexibility and critical thinking.
+ Works with potentially unpredictable individuals requiring that teamwork and communication with other security officers.
+ Maintains knowledge of, and complies with, all relevant laws, regulations, policies, procedures and standards.
+ Actively participates in creating and implementing improvements.
Required:
+ **Experience:** 2 years of security, law enforcement, or military experience OR an Associate’s degree and 1 year of security, law enforcement, or military experience OR a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
+ **License/Certification:** Valid Class D Driver’s License and a clean DMV record.
Preferred:
+ Previous hospital security experience.
+ Certifications like Certified Peace Officer (POST) or Emergency Med Tech Basic (EMT-B).
