    Sr Analyst, Business Operations

     

    This position is for a highly motivated Senior Analyst with fixed income investment management experience and a strong background in Investment Performance and Attribution.

     

    This role will have a Hybrid work arrangement, with the expectation of working in the Hartford, CT office 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).

    This is a great opportunity to join a growing Investment Management company with Affiliated and Third-Party assets under management. Business Operations is responsible for the comprehensive support of HIMCO’s Investment Operating Platform, along with Enterprise Services, such as Project Management and Business Resiliency. In Business Operations you will gain exposure to all parts of HIMCO, including, Investment Sectors, Portfolio Management, Trading, Legal, Compliance, Accounting and Technology teams through daily investment process support, project work, stretch assignments, and complex issue resolution. In addition, you can grow your career through participation in innovative investment and technology solutions for HIMCO’s client, market, and regulatory initiatives.

    Overview of the Team:

    The Business Operations Reporting and Performance team is responsible for Investment and Client Reporting, Performance Measurement and Attribution and Strategic Reporting & Development. The Team covers all aspects of Performance and Attribution, including Global Investment Performance Standards (GIPS®) compliance as well as Investment Reporting (e.g., portfolio positioning, monitoring, client reporting, etc.). Additionally, the team partners with IT to focus on the development and implementation of a strategic reporting and data environment to address HIMCO’s evolving needs for client reporting, the introduction of new business intelligence tools, enhanced data validation and an automation pipeline of scalable reporting solutions.

    Responsibilities:

    This is a highly visible position working closely with the Front-Office and the responsibilities include:

    + Publish and provide front-line quality assurance for the generation and publishing of investment performance results and explain all variances.

    + Prepare standard and ad-hoc reports for internal and external audiences.

    + Ensure deliverables are met, timely and accurately, while following procedures and policies.

    + Calculate and report performance results for third party clients.

    + Proactively identify value-add initiatives to Management and work with HIMCO partners in IT and Vendors/Service providers on automation and process improvements.

    + Participate in team and firm-wide projects; achieve deadlines; ensure quality and accurate performance is produced and distributed.

    + Participate in the annual GIPS standards verification process.

    + Develop and maintain customized and standard benchmarks.

    + Fulfill ad-hoc requests and ensure accuracy of results and client satisfaction. Resolve medium-to-high complexity issues and requests independently.

    + Clarify complex information delivered through by inquiry and analysis with external parties and service providers.

    + Can independently identify, scope out and manage to completion value-add initiatives, ad hoc projects, and assignments.

    Qualifications & Skills:

    + Bachelor’s degree or related experience in Finance, Accounting, Business or Technology, or related fields.

    + Professional designations such as CIPM, CFA, preferred.

    + 5+ years Investment Management experience with emphasis on Performance Measurement.

    + Broad understanding of equity and fixed income trading, investment operations and performance attribution processes

    + Working to strong familiarity with Global Investment Performance Standards (GIPS).

    + Deep understanding of performance measurement methodologies (e.g., TWR, IRR), attribution models, and benchmarks.

    + Support audit and regulatory reporting requirements related to performance.

    + Experience with or working knowledge of the following - Front-office systems: BlackRock Aladdin Suite, eFront, Bloomberg etc.

    + Knowledge of Performance & Attribution software and tools e.g., SS&C Sylvan, Blackrock Aladdin Suite

    + Familiar with market data vendors: Bloomberg, ICE, Refinitiv, S&P, Fitch, Moody’s and MSCI

    + Knowledge of MS Office, Cloud Technologies, Investment Data Warehouses, and related data extraction tools

    As a condition of your employment for HIMCO, you will be required to affirm to HIMCO’s Code of Ethics and understand that you will be required to comply with the disclosure of accounts, holdings, and pre-clearance of trades for the accounts of you and your household family members as more fully described in the Code of Ethics Key Points. If you will be deemed to be a “Covered Associate” under HIMCO’s Pay to Play Policy, you will also need to disclose all political contributions that you have given within the past 2 calendar years.

     

    This role will have a Hybrid work arrangement, with the expectation of working in an office (Hartford, CT) 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday) and remote on Mondays and Fridays.

     

    Compensation

     

    The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

     

    $102,160 - $153,240
