The Department of Medicine's Division of General, Geriatric, and Palliative Medicine at the University of Virginia seeks a recognized leader in transdisciplinary geriatric and gerontological research. This prestigious role will provide leadership, direction, and innovation in furthering the Department’s research program on aging at the University of Virginia School of Medicine. This position will collaborate with several entities across UVA, both within the School of Medicine and across UVA’s Schools, creating and sustaining partnerships for cutting-edge aging research.
The selected candidate will hold an MD/DO, MD/PhD, DO/PhD, or PhD in an allied field of gerontological research. For candidates holding a PhD without an MD or DO, preference will be given to those with prior or current work experience in aging care (e.g. neuropsychology, clinical psychology, nursing, social work, etcetera). The selected candidate will be a nationally recognized researcher with a strong track record of extramural-funded research, sustained scholarly productivity, and the capacity for ambitious and innovative thinking in the field of aging.
Where appropriate, in addition to research, the selected candidate may sustain a partial clinical practice caring for older adults in UVA Health’s clinical settings.

Physician candidates must have an MD or DO, and be board-certified in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine. Certification (certificate of added qualification) in Geriatric Medicine is also required.
