Associate Product Manager

We are seeking an Associate Product Manager to help manage our core and advanced connectivity services portfolio. The person in this role will have knowledge of telecom managed services and providers, an understanding of the competitive telecommunications marketplace, and a natural curiosity of what’s next for the industry. This person will assist Senior Product Managers in evolving core and advanced connectivity product lines, contributing as part of a cross functional team through design, pricing, and packaging services to drive higher product attachment rates. This person will work closely with Product Management, Sales and Marketing teams to ensure a go-to-market plan that achieves take rate and revenue objectives and adds value to the FirstLight Fiber portfolio.
Ideal candidates possess a unique blend of business and technical acumen, with a strategic mindset and the drive to execute the strategy. The ideal candidate has a balance of technical and sales experience and can help translate customer and prospect needs into solutions and features for the broader market. You must be able to communicate at all levels within the Company. You will learn to define product positioning, key benefits, and ideal customer profiles. You will also serve as the internal product expert, working with other departments, sales channels and key customers to maximize adoption of the services.
Responsibilities:
+ Oversee the product line life cycle and ensure product profitability for core and advanced connectivity services.
+ Work to become the Subject Matter Expert on FirstLight’s service capabilities, planned enhancements, positioning in the marketplace and current availability.
+ Specify market requirements for current and future products by conducting market and competitive research supported by on-going visits to customers and prospects.
+ Contribute to business cases to support new features/enhancements including costs and projected revenue for new services and enhancements.
+ Contribute to developing and maintaining product pricing.
+ Analyze the competitive landscape and identify gaps and opportunities within the FirstLight service offering.
+ Contribute to internal and external sales and customer product training.
+ Must be able to travel to customer meetings as well as attend industry/company events.
+ Any other projects assigned by management.
Qualifications:
The candidate will have experience in technological areas like telecommunications, IP Networking, Local and Wide-area networking, with some exposure to advanced network services. Ideal candidates must be self-motivated and comfortable in a dynamic atmosphere of a technical organization developing solutions tailored to market and customers’ needs. Must possess strong presentation skills and be comfortable presenting to all levels within an organization, including C-level management. Must be able to communicate effectively in written responses to emails, RFPs, and when submitting reports. Candidates must be well organized and analytical. At least 1-3 years of experience in a product or technical sales role is required. A solid understanding of the competitive Telecoms, ISP, or MSP landscape is preferred.
Education and/or Experience:
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, you should have strong working knowledge of the Microsoft suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and Outlook. Experience building business models will contribute to success. A working knowledge of Salesforce is beneficial.
