Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Medical Billing Specialist to join our team on a long-term contract basis in Carlsbad, California. In this role, you will focus on managing accounts receivable, processing claims, and resolving billing issues while ensuring accurate documentation and compliance with healthcare regulations. This opportunity is ideal for individuals with a strong background in medical billing and expertise in handling aged claims and appeals.
Responsibilities:
• Analyze and resolve aged accounts receivable claims, focusing on those older than three months.
• Process billing and collections for Medicare, Medi-Cal, HMOs, workers' compensation, and private insurance plans.
• Investigate denied claims, draft appeals, and follow up with payers to ensure timely resolution.
• Review and adjust reports in Excel to reconcile outstanding claims and payments.
• Communicate with patients and insurance providers to clarify billing issues and payment responsibilities.
• Utilize EHR systems and Epic software to manage billing tasks and streamline workflows.
• Work off work queues and reports to track outstanding claims and prioritize follow-up efforts.
• Assist with credentialing processes and ensure proper documentation is added to the system.
• Handle payer and patient collections with professionalism and attention to detail.
• Collaborate with affiliated hospitals and medical offices to coordinate billing for office and hospital visits. Requirements • Proven experience in medical billing, with a focus on accounts receivable and aged claims.
• Proficiency in Epic software and EHR systems for medical billing processes.
• Strong knowledge of Medicare, Medi-Cal, HMOs, workers' compensation, and private insurance billing.
• Ability to draft and manage appeals for denied claims with attention to detail.
• Advanced Excel skills for reviewing and adjusting billing-related reports.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with patients, payers, and healthcare providers.
• Familiarity with credentialing processes and related documentation.
• Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
