Duties Description Under the direction and supervision of the Associate Administrative Analyst, the incumbent will perform duties that include, but are not limited to the following:• Review new products to determine appropriate themes and marketability. Make recommendations to the Division as needed; receive and verify vendor provided software is certified as documented by software certification vendor and coordinate installations to the central system. • Evaluate product mix change orders as well as software, printer and bill validator upgrades as submitted by each manufacturer and coordinate changes with the manufacturer, facility and Division personnel. • Work with Central System Provider to develop specific and routine reports and databases/spreadsheets to be distributed to Division and vendor end-users. Coordinate with end-users to ensure reports and databases/spreadsheets are received in a timely and accurate manner.• Assist in generation of millions of dollars in free-play coupons to be used at all Video Lottery facilities.• Reconcile monthly free play redemptions. • Work with facility and manufacturer personnel, as well as the Central System Provider, as a liaison to Video Lottery operations and traditional Lottery resources.• Evaluate sales information and trends for each track by manufacturer, game parameter, promotional event, hour of operation, and seasonality.• Assist staff with sales information reports, product evaluation, and product change verification/tracking responsibilities.• Manage proprietary Electronic Table Game (ETG) software - verification of certification, maintenance of current software database, sending out software needed for change orders, maintenance of ETG software controlled at the test lab, and inventory, collect and return outdated software versions to the machine vendors. • Track and disburse gaming machine security tape for gaming machines at all Video Gaming and Commercial Gaming facilities.• Assist the video lottery facility marketing departments with submission of free play promotions, review of same and tracking the efficacy of approved play.• Process weekly Net Win Variance Reports.• Process Electronic Table Games (ETG) sales reports.• Inquire with vendors on low/no sales on the operational statuses to understand the underlying reasons for the lack of activity.• Manage the Test Lab at the Central System Provider’s office, witnessing the installation and removal of gaming devices and observing all ETG software changes.• Send out product mix change order and software upgrade approvals.• Coordinate with end-users to ensure reports and databases/spreadsheets are received in a timely and accurate manner.• Travel to all facilities to assist with the resolution of local concerns, as directed• The incumbent's role necessitates a comprehensive understanding of all facets within the Gaming Division (Video Gaming, Commercial Gaming, Tribal Gaming, Interactive Fantasy Sports and Sports Wagering). This involves actively engaging with various teams and processes to gain insights into their individual functions and contributions to the overall operation.• Provide support to the Director and Deputy Directors of the Division with operational tasks between all Division areas.
Minimum Qualifications Permanent Qualification: Candidates must currently be a permanent Program Research Specialist 1; OREligible List Appointment: For appointment to a two-year traineeship leading to a Program Research Specialist 1, SG-18: Reachable for appointment from the following eligible list: 50002010 - (PCO) – Select TitlesTransfer Qualification: Candidates must be a current New York State employee eligible for transfer via Section 52.6, or 70.4 of the Civil Service Law.Open to the Public: Minimum Qualifications for: • Program Research Specialist Trainee 1: A bachelor's degree or higher including or supplemented by nine semester credit hours in biostatistics, data analysis, or data modeling, economics, econometrics, mathematics, research methods, or statistics.• Program Research Specialist Trainee 2: A bachelor's degree or higher including or supplemented by nine semester credit hours in biostatistics, data analysis, or data modeling, economics, econometrics, mathematics, research methods, or statistics, and one year of professional research experience performing the collection, manipulation (e.g., data construction, merging data files, data cleaning, working with data files containing different levels of data) and evaluation of quantitative data.• Program Research Specialist 1: A bachelor's degree including or supplemented by nine semester credit hours in biostatistics, data analysis, data modeling, economics, econometrics, mathematics, research methods, or statistics and two years of professional research experience performing the collection, manipulation (e.g., data construction, merging data files, data cleaning, working with data files containing different levels of data) and evaluation of quantitative data directed toward review, analysis, and presentation related to program operations. Employees will then be afforded with all the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State.
