The University of Miami/UHealth Department of SCCC has an exciting opportunity for a Full Time Post doctoral Scholar to work at the UHealth medical campus in Miami, Fl.
CORE JOB SUMMARYThe Post Doctoral Scholar takes initiative and works independently in developing new research ideas and troubleshooting new assays. Further, the incumbent facilitates the training of students, residents, fellows, and other trainees.CORE JOB FUNCTIONS1. Assists in planning and designing research experiments, establishes priorities, and recommends schedules.2. Presents research findings at local and national scientific conferences.3. Writes technical publications and reports.4. Designs and writes programs to perform analysis and produces written reports on results.5. Collects pilot data to help support new and competing renewal applications.6. Supervises undergraduate and graduate research students and performs literature reviews.7. The Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center and the Department of Surgery at the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine, is searching for a Postdoctoral Scholar with strong interest in scientific environments with multidisciplinary expertise.The position is a part of a NIH NRSA T32 funded project, Research Training in Surgical Oncology.The program addresses a critical need to help meet the future demands for training the next generation of surgical oncologists to pursue academic careers, become physician-scientists or clinician investigators, and translate research discoveries to clinical practice.
Program Requirements:1. Citizens/non-citizen nationals of the United States or individuals who have been lawfully admitted for permanent residence at the time of appointment.2. Must be available for a 12-month appointment and agree to undertake a minimum of two years of research, research training, or comparable experiences from the time of appointment.3. Must be a residents and/or fellow in training in General Surgery, Breast Surgery, Colon Rectal Surgery,Endocrine Surgery, Gynecologic Oncology,Neurosurgery, Surgical Oncology, or Urology.4. Those who have not had previous NRSA or T32supportNote: Candidates must be accepted into the training program before applying for the position.
