    Lift Station Maintenance has vacancies within our Vac Truck & ARV crews. These crews are responsible for performing preventative and corrective cleaning maintenance to ensure proper function of our Sewer Lift Stations.

     

    + The ARV (Air-Relief Valve) crew is responsible for performing preventative and corrective maintenance to ensure proper functioning of our ARV’s on sewer force mains. The functioning of these valves is essential to lift station performance.

    + The Vac Truck is responsible for performing preventative and corrective cleaning maintenance to ensure proper function of our Sewer Lift Stations. This position will assist the Vac Truck Crew Leader in cleaning maintenance and assist the ARV crew with cleaning and vacuuming out the ARV manholes and also assist with confined space entry, traffic control, maintenance/replacement on the ARVs, when needed.

     

    Cross training on the operation of sewage lift stations will also be provided for stand-by/recall duty and response to lift station emergencies. This position will also assist the Lift Station crews when the job requires an extra hand or in the absence of Lift Station Mechanics with maintenance and repairs at the Lift Stations. This role provides semi-skilled labor, working in partnership with their Crew Leader and co-workers, and requires interpersonal skills with the ability to step in for Crew Leader as needed; exercising professional and safe behavior at all times.

     

    Must be willing to work during all types of weather and participate in ongoing rotational stand-by/recall duty.

    Duties/Responsibilities

    + As assigned, performs basic repairs under the supervision of higher-level staff; performs manual and semi-skilled construction duties; performs basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, HVAC, and welding duties; inspects facilities and equipment for maintenance-related issues; reports issues to higher-level staff; and operates light equipment and vehicles, as assigned.

    + Maintains reports, records, logs, and other documents; provides shop assistance; and maintains inventories by stocking, monitoring, and/or ordering supplies.

    + Provides customer service, including responding to customer questions and concerns; and provides information on policies and procedures.

     

    Minimum Qualifications & Experience

     

    + High School Diploma or equivalent (GED, HiSet, TASC)

    + Two years of maintenance experience related to assignment.

    + Must have a valid, unrestricted, North Carolina driver's license "or" if you currently have another state driver's license, must be willing and able to obtain a valid NC driver's license within 60 days of hire

    + North Carolina Class B Commercial Driver’s License with a HAZMAT or Tanker endorsement, Not required at time of hire but must be willing and able to obtain it within 9 months of Hire date.

    + Must be willing and able to routinely work in confined spaces using all appropriate and required safety equipment while complying with all rules, guidelines, and expectations

     

    Additional Preferred Skills

     

    + OSHA Competent Person for excavation & confined space entry is preferred.

    + Experience in a municipal or water/sewer authority
