    Rehabilitation Therapy Aide

     

    Monday-Friday 7:30am-4:30pm

     

    Starting at: $18/hour

    Responsibilities

    Under the direction of a therapist, assists patients in the rehabilitation process through provision of requested activities. Prepares and maintains equipment and physical plant for daily activities.

     

    + Assist therapist with transferring patients to/from mats, treatment and tilt tables, wheelchairs and other equipment appropriate to the facility/department.

    + Transports patients to/from therapy as needed.

    + Assists with patient related activities including equipment set-up and patient positioning in preparation for therapy session as outlined in the Physical Therapy Practice Act.

    + Participates in therapeutic dysphagia and feeding program as requested and supervised by the therapists.

    + Prepares and maintains the department and department equipment in a clean and orderly condition, including disinfecting all equipment and surfaces according to infection control policies and procedures.

    + Ensures maintenance of cleaning logs and refrigerator temperature logs.

    + Provides coverage for Wheelchair Technicians including:

    + Assists with cleaning/disinfecting of wheelchairs and cushions after each patient use.

    + Issues wheelchair to new admissions.

    + Assists with preventative maintenance and repairs on wheelchair fleet to extend life of equipment and ensure patient safety.

    + Distributes wheelchairs to new admissions, as requested by therapy department.

    + Communicates with Clinical Manager and/or Director of Rehab on a timely basis regarding departmental needs, informs department manager of needed supplies, and assists with inventory control and ordering.

    + Establishes and maintains current knowledge of all performance improvement and patient care improvement issues and maintains an active role in monitoring these issues.

    + Participates in departmental meetings and demonstrates understanding of patient satisfaction and safety outcome data.

    + Arranges for responsibilities to be covered in planned absences.

    + Assists the DOR with identification of support staff needs for patient care in the rehab treatment areas and coordination of such between rehab and nursing floors.

    + Participates in therapeutic dysphagia and feeding program as requested and supervised by the therapists.

    + Participates in facility specific Core Program meetings and demonstrates understanding of patient satisfaction outcome data.

    + Assists with basic clerical duties as requested.

    + Performs other duties as requested.

    Qualifications

    + High school graduate or equivalent required.

    + **One or more years of hospital experience as rehab aide preferred.**

    + Six months of general maintenance experience and use of hand/power tools preferred.

    + **Must have basic computer skills.**
