Sr. Director, Enterprise Applications

ACTIVITIES:
+ Create overall internal enterprise systems strategy based on business goals and direction and in alignment with overarching IT strategy, with supporting roadmap accounting for technology trends and regulatory requirements. Articulate alternative options and solicit approval from key business & finance stakeholders, including governance boards and Executive Committee.
+ Collaborate with CIO on measures for overall IT team
+ Create and regularly monitor measures within areas of accountability (for enterprise applications team)
+ Implement governance structure in partnership with business stakeholders. Act as key IT executive leading governance over enterprise systems areas (including ERP), raising strategic decisions and risks/issues for resolution. Accountable for executing governance decisions
+ Set SLA’s in collaboration with stakeholders
+ Identify risks to goals and objectives and create mitigation plans in collaboration with stakeholders.
+ Communicate relevant and timely information to Senior stakeholders for purposes of governance and risk mitigation
+ Work with business and finance to create business cases (and approve at appropriate stakeholder level)
+ Manage relevant vendors, with heavy involvement in negotiations and contract review for the best possible outcome for Cytel
Fiscal responsibilities:
Ensuring best possible budget in alignment to the strategy
Oversee Financial budgets and forecasts and remain within commitments while achieving goals; Understand the progression of the budget vs commitments
Review & adjust budgets developed / recommended by direct report departments and authorize expenditures
Improve productivity at best possible cost
Construct and manage an organization and high performing team capable of executing the tactics, including:
understanding business processes associated with enterprise applications, product lifecycle management, and other enterprise applications, recommending solutions to problems and to enable achievement of business goals
Implementing and ensuring best leverage of new and existing enterprise application technology across diverse business areas/processes
Provide resources and subject matter expertise for reliable execution of project delivery (on time, on budget, on quality)
Communicate dependencies & required resources in other areas to successfully execute programs (e.g. business, IT, data & analytics, etc)
Maintain a reliable core applications and related interfaces
Set service level agreements with internal customers
Consistently achieve SLA’s as agreed
Upgrade and patch for longevity and security of applications
Enable effective decisions to be made at the lowest level reasonable in the organization
Adhere to pertinent regulatory requirements and to departmental policies, practices and procedures [GxP, SOPs, relevant data privacy policies, etc]
Work with peers to appropriately coordinate and communicate activities & mitigate risks in alignment with overall corporate and IT strategic intent
**_Education:_** Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) or equivalent in computer science, engineering, business administration or related discipline
_Experience & Skills:_
+ Minimum of twelve (12) years application delivery & maintenance experience, preferably in medical device, life sciences, or related industry
+ ERP implementation & maintenance experience strongly preferred
+ Oracle & Salesforce.com experience strongly preferred
+ Consulting experience preferred
+ Effective communication skills for large, multi-national audiences
+ Management acumen – Solid understanding and demonstrated ability to:
+ Build and manage a high performing team
+ Lead amongst business partners & customers to drive desired outcomes
+ Business acumen – Experience managing budgets, understanding of business processes & customer value
+ Operational Performance – Understanding of and/or experience with operational excellence theories and methodologies
+ Experience and/or understanding of Agile and/or Critical Chain Project Management (CCPM)
Physical Demands:
+ While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to work/type at a computer.
+ Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
+ Some travel will be required (estimated 10-20%) based on the nature of projects and team management, with schedule for travel generally being flexible/self-determined.
