Advanced Counselor PRN Weekend Coverage - Maryview Medical Center

Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

The Advanced Addictions Counselor provides direct patient care under the guidance of a designated healthcare professional in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations, and within policies, procedures, and guidelines of Bon Secours Mercy Health (BSMH).

Licensing/Certification

Must have one of the following certifications:

Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor (LICDC)

Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW)

Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC)

Education

Must have one of the following degrees:

Master of Social Work (MSW)

Master of Science in Social Administration (MSSA)

Master in Counseling

Masters in Addiction

Work Experience

2 years’ experience in a healthcare or social services setting (required)

If associate is a non-licensed eligible counselor, must have a minimum of one year work experience in healthcare, human or social services setting.

Essential Job Functions

+ Facilitates psychoeducational and psychotherapy groups, participates in family meetings and treatment team meetings.

+ Responsible for substance use disorder(SUD) group facilitation

+ Community resource knowledge and collaboration (peer recovery support, community support groups)

+ Individual touch base with patients and Information gathering

+ Completes SUD screenings, SUD discharge planning, post-discharge calls, and Columbia-Suicide Rating Scale (C-SSRS)

+ Facilitates treatment planning and diagnostic assessment

+ Collects Urine drug screenings

+ Assists with the onboarding of new and/or entry level Addictions Counselors

+ May take on more complex tasks and/or projects as needed

+ Successfully participates to complete BSMH and departmental specific training as required
