Position Summary:
Our Client's Network\Systems Administrator will play a crucial role in managing and maintaining the agency's network and systems infrastructure. This position is responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing network, system, and application systems, ensuring their reliability, security, and optimal performance. This role requires a deep understanding of networking technologies, systems, servers, group policies and strong problem-solving skills.
Network\Systems Administrator
+ Design, implement, and manage the organization's local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), and other network systems.
+ Manage, and maintain computer networks and related computing environments.
+ Install, configure, and support network equipment (e.g., routers, switches, VPNs, firewalls, LAN, WAN).
+ Evaluate and recommend network hardware and software upgrades to improve performance, security, and scalability.
+ Ability to think and respond quickly, adjust schedules and operating plans in response to unplanned events.
+ Monitor network performance and proactively address potential issues to ensure smooth operations.
+ Diagnose and resolve complex network and application-related issues.
+ Implement and enforce security best practices for applications, including access controls, data encryption, and vulnerability assessments.
+ Respond to escalated support tickets and incidents, ensuring timely resolution and minimizing downtime.
+ Monitor network traffic patterns and bandwidth utilization to identify areas for optimization and capacity planning.
+ Develop and maintain robust backup and disaster recovery plans for critical applications and data.
+ Perform routine network monitoring, identifying and troubleshooting network issues.
+ Maintain network security by setting up firewalls, updating security protocols, and responding to security breaches.
+ Support and manage system backups, disaster recovery plans, and data protection protocols.
+ Collaborate with IT teams and departments to ensure seamless network integration and functionality.
+ Provide user support and training as needed for network-related issues.
+ Document network infrastructure, configurations, and processes for transparency and team collaboration.
+ Provide level two support for help desk tickets that are elevated.
+ Manage new server builds and equipment rollouts.
+ Install, monitor, and maintain physical and virtual servers.
+ Monitor and respond to system performance metrics.
+ Manage server and network systems changes.
+ Master of O365 environment
+ Manage server and network configuration backups.
+ Schedule and perform system upgrades.
+ Manage the configuration and operation of client systems.
+ Work with other members of the IT staff to support entire agency.
+ Lead projects that involve server hardware/software or network equipment
+ Create and maintain policies and procedures regarding servers.
+ Provide periodic report of system status to include uptime, incidents and problems, and open issues.
+ Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
+ Master TCPIP; Active Directory, DNS, VPN, DHCP, GPO.
+ Experience with large remote network architectures.
+ Master virtualization (VMware) and storage technologies.
+ Master Cisco/Meraki technologies, CCNA Preferred
+ 4+ years of experience in designing, implementing, and managing virtual and/or storage infrastructure.
+ Expert knowledge of VMware vSphere data center, vCenter Server Appliance (vCSA), ESXi hypervisor, VM Hardware version, VMTools, VM Remote Console (VMRC), High Availability (HA), and Distributed Resource Scheduler (DRS)
+ Ability to test and interact with new software technologies in environment with 3rd party monitoring tools to track overall health and availability of apps CrowdStrike Endpoint Security Solutions (CESS) for EDR, and Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM).
+ Experience with server rack mounted hardware (preferably HPE), software, firmware, drivers, BIOS/UEFI, Trusted Platform Modules (TPM) devices, FIPS 140-2 chipsets, secure boot
+ Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to resolve complex technical issues related to VMware and storage technologies.
+ Strong knowledge of scripting with PowerShell, VMware PowerCLI.
+ Expert knowledge of vSphere products and abilities, and Out-of-Band Products .
+ Minimum 3+ years of hands-on experience in Windows Server Administration role.
+ Solid knowledge of Active Directory, MS Exchange, O365, Windows Server 2016/2019 & 2022, Windows 10/11, Teams/SharePoint, OneDrive, office applications.
+ Solid understanding and ability to maintain and manage SAN, Backup/Recovery, SNMP, IIS and VMWare environments.
+ Solid experience providing/maintaining backups and storage.
+ Ability to work independently on small to medium sized projects.
+ Problem solving and analytical skills for troubleshooting.
+ Experience/Education : Minimum 3 years of experience in network administration preferably with relevant IT roles; equivalent certifications (e.g., CCNA, CompTIA Network+) and relevant educational background (minimum bachelor’s degree in computer science) will be considered.
+ Technical Skills : Proficiency in managing network hardware and software; knowledge of network troubleshooting tools and diagnostic software.
+ Certifications (preferred): CCNA, MCSA, CompTIA Network+, or similar.
+ Communication : Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
+ Detail-Oriented : Ability to identify and address network inefficiencies and proactively improve performance.
DESIRED EXPERIENCE
+ Cisco/Meraki LAN/WAN Network Engineering (routers, switches, firewalls, IP protocols, IOS, NX-OS).
+ LAN/WAN Switching (L2/L3), VLANs, Private VLANs, Trunking, EtherChannel and VTP.
+ TCP/IP, IP Routing, BGP, EIGRP, SSL VPN, QoS, NAT/PAT, NAC, NetFlow.
+ T1, MPLS and Metro Ethernet technologies.
+ Cisco Firewall management solutions.
+ Cisco Unified Communications.
+ Cisco Call Manager / VOIP / Voice Gateways / SIP Trunking.
