Job Title: Project Controls Analyst
Job Description
This role involves reporting to the Project Controls Manager and project managers and is responsible for overall cost analysis, tracking, monitoring, and control work. The position requires close collaboration with project teams to compile, assess, and document project costs and associated cost monitoring and reporting at various project stages.
Responsibilities
+ Monitor, track, and control costs for projects, including Transmission Lines, Substations, Distribution, and Telecom projects.
+ Act as a functional expert in cost monitoring and cost controls practices.
+ Handle Earned Value Management system reporting.
+ Identify systemic issues within processes and tools, and develop strategies to mitigate or eliminate them.
+ Identify and apply internal and industry best practices for cost control consistently within the workgroup.
+ Ensure outgoing cost control data and reports meet internal criteria and consistency.
+ Implement approved cost control reports and communicate core differences to management and project sponsors.
+ Ensure the correct application of internal databases and establish methodologies to update database and cost control tools based on historical triggers.
+ Analyze internal costs to identify trends in cost forecasts and support the project team by attending meetings and collaborating with others.
+ Perform other duties as assigned.
+ Support major storm restoration work as assigned.
+ Adhere to all policies and procedures.
Essential Skills
+ Proficiency in cost control and cost tracking software.
+ Familiarity with risk management software.
+ Experience in the utility industry.
+ Knowledge of construction, cost analysis, and project controls.
+ Competence in earned value management.
+ Minimum of 5 years related project cost controls experience required.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Accounting, or a related field.
+ Applicable experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.
+ Project Cost Control and management training and experience is an asset.
+ Additional Professional Certifications in Cost Management are preferred.
+ Electrical utility experience is preferred.
Work Environment
The work environment involves using advanced cost tracking and risk management software. It is a collaborative setting that requires regular interaction with project teams and management.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $45.00/hr.
