Job Title: Plumbing Engineer
Job Description
Join a dynamic and collaborative team as a Mid-to- Senior level Plumbing Designer or Engineer, where your expertise in selecting and designing plumbing systems will contribute to complex projects like hospitals and labs. This role requires producing detailed design documentation, supporting construction administration, and working closely with architects, engineers, and sustainability experts to ensure technical precision and attention to detail.
Responsibilities
+ Design complex plumbing systems with minimal oversight, ensuring constructability and maintenance.
+ Evaluate system options and recommend optimal solutions for each project.
+ Plan layouts for major equipment rooms and develop system diagrams, control sequences, and points lists.
+ Produce detailed drawings, specifications, and technical write-ups, while contributing to internal standards.
+ Coordinate with internal MEP teams and external partners, fostering open communication and teamwork.
+ Ensure all designs comply with applicable codes and standards, and perform quality checks on peer work.
+ Conduct site visits and field observations, providing support during the construction phase.
+ Guide and mentor junior team members, sharing knowledge and improving design processes.
+ Travel locally around 10–15% of the time for meetings, site visits, and coordination.
Essential Skills
+ Minimum of 5 years of experience in plumbing engineering/design.
+ Experience with healthcare, life sciences, or data center projects.
+ Proficiency in Revit for designing plumbing systems.
+ Strong understanding of plumbing codes (UPC), NFPA standards, and design requirements.
+ Ability to manage projects and client relationships independently.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Bachelor's or Master's degree in mechanical engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
+ PE license or Certified Plumbing Designer (CPD) certification preferred, or willingness to obtain within six months.
+ Experience with healthcare or hospital design is highly desirable.
+ Skilled in AutoCAD and Bluebeam.
+ Commitment to designing sustainable, energy-efficient systems.
Work Environment
This hybrid role is based in Atlanta, Georgia, offering flexibility for remote work with occasional site visits. The office has 10 employees who occasionally go in on Mondays and Thursdays. Enjoy working within a team culture that values professional development and offers an ESOP program. You can work fully remote if needed, with site visits required.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $105000.00 - $150000.00/yr.
