Job Title: Shipping Assistant

Job Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Shipping Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will resolve shipping issues such as mis-shipments, shortages, damage, deliveries, and freight charges. This role involves handling incoming and outgoing calls regarding shipment of products, evaluating and resolving aging orders, accurately generating shipping documents, and overseeing prompt completion of all customer-specific freight shipments and international orders.

Responsibilities

+ Resolve shipping issues such as mis-shipments, shortages, damage, deliveries, and freight charges.

+ Handle incoming/outgoing calls regarding shipment of products including carriers, customer service, sales, and operations.

+ Evaluate and resolve aging orders that have not shipped.

+ Accurately generate shipping documents, freight terms, and commercial invoices.

+ Generate pick tickets and assign carriers as required to minimize cost.

+ Investigate freight claims and provide disposition.

+ Oversee the prompt completion of all customer-specific freight shipments and international orders.

+ Schedule carrier pick-ups.

+ Other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills

+ Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.

+ Experience in shipping, freight shipments, and international orders.

+ Ability to read, write, and comprehend the English language.

+ Detail-oriented.

+ Ability to lift up to 25 pounds periodically.

+ Ability to sit for prolonged periods, stand, walk, bend, push, pull, and kneel.

+ Ability to work in weather extremes.

+ Compliance with all plant safety policies.

+ Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Experience with warehouse inventory, cycle counts, inventory management.

+ Experience with pick tickets, receiving, and forklift operation.

+ Training will be provided for the oracle system, but candidates must be computer proficient.

Work Environment

The work environment is very clean and air-controlled. Employees must be able to work beyond scheduled shifts during the week, as well as on weekends. The role involves being active on the warehouse floor, standing, walking, and lifting as required. Safety policies and PPE compliance are mandatory. Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of SMITHFIELD, North Carolina.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $15.00 - $19.00/hr.
