CU Denver's College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS) Marketing and Communications team is looking for a savvy, full-stack marketing and communications professional with an emphasis in sharing authentic voices on social media platforms. The marketing and communications specialist will excel at amplifying our college's community voices, while advancing the mission, goals, reputation, and identity of CLAS as a leading academic and research college in the heart of a global city. They will thrive on finding nuanced, unique ways to connect with our audiences, collaborate with our campus, and create community on our social platforms.
As a member of the CLAS Marketing and Communications (CLAS MarCom) team, and in partnership with University Communications, the marketing and communications specialist supports the strategy and execution of the college's social media efforts, while providing general support for the creative content, strategic communications (including emergency communications), events, and marketing strategy as a liaison to both CLAS departments and University Communications. In this role, the marketing and communications specialist supports the Associate Director of Marketing and Communications in developing and delivering content that aligns with the university's brand and college mission. This role will collaborate on a robust content calendar. Primarily, they will explore, ideate, and execute on social media performance marketing strategies and advertising opportunities. They will review analytics for college-level social properties and manage social media governance for the college's department-level social media properties. They will demonstrate a commitment to equity and uphold university values.
The marketing and communications specialist will be an organized individual who can thrive in a deadline-driven environment. They should have strong project management abilities, as well as excellent communication skills for engaging audiences across platforms in unique ways. They should excel at observing data trends in analytics, monitoring channels, and responding to queries and comments with a customer-service attitude. This position involves weekend and weeknight work, as necessary.
Marketing and Communications Specialist
What you will do:
70% Social Media Marketing
+ Produce, write, edit, and publish consistent, channel-specific, multimedia content at a strategic cadence for thecollege's social media and communication platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, Bluesky and YouTube.
+ Monitor social media channels daily and respond to issues and concerns.
+ Develop and implement social media strategies, campaigns, and social media content calendars that build engagement and support CU Denver goals.
+ Analyze and report-out on social media progress using industry-standard analytic tools.Incorporate optimization strategies, identify trends, and adhere to best practices for social media accounts.
+ Support University Communications with amplification of messaging and emergency communications as needed. This may involve weekend and weeknight work.
20% Full-Stack Marketing
+ Operate as the primary CLAS MarCom strategic lead for rotating 1-2 CLAS departments/programs each semester. This includes setting up reoccurring meetings with appropriate department/program stakeholders to identify their marcom needs and report back to the CLAS MarCom Team for ideation and collaborative implementation of marcom strategies and deliverables.
+ Operate as the general CLAS MarCom liaison for 5 additional CLAS departments/programs. This includes managing incoming marketing collateral requests from those departments and coordinating with the appropriate CLAS MarCom member to create the needed deliverables.
10% Events Marketing
+ Operate as the CLAS MarCom liaison for 1-3 CLAS reoccurring signature events each year. This includes attending reoccurring meetings with appropriate event stakeholders to identify their marcom needs and report back to the CLAS MarCom Team for ideation and collaborative implementation of marcom strategies and deliverables.
+ This may include tabling or attending these events in conjunction with your social media coverage.
+ This may include a few nights or weekend events.
Qualifications you already possess (Minimum Qualifications)

+ Bachelor's degree in digital media, journalism, English, communications, public relations, marketing, or a related field.
+ At least one year of professional-level experience in social media, journalism, digital marketing, digital content, communications, or related field.
+ Proven ability to write content for different audiences, formats, and contexts
+ Excellent copyediting and writing skills
Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.
Preferred Qualification to possess (Preferred Qualifications)
+ Hands-on experience using social medial platforms and social/digital media management tools, i.e., Sprout Social, Hootsuite, Buffer or related tools.
+ Experience in photography and videography storyboarding, scripting, and location scouting for content creation.
+ Experience with content management systems, i.e., Sitefinity, Drupal, WordPress, Campus Bird, Brandfolder (or similar digital asset management systems).
+ Experience developing story or creative concepts from the idea stage to posts.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
+ Experience using fact-checking methods.
+ Keen understanding of creative content trends and best practices.
+ Strong problem-solving abilities.
+ Understands the role and value of social media and communications
+ Proficiency in AP style.
+ Excellent writing, copy editing, and proofreading skills.
+ Keen understanding of creative content trends and best practices.
+ Excellent social media listening skills and judgement to identify and monitor crisis situations and/or university reputational issues; ability to apply conflict resolution principles to mitigate.
+ Able to manage a diverse workload under deadline pressure.
+ Capable of measuring the impact of social media and communication activities using both quantitative and qualitative methods.
+ Working knowledge of principles of SEO including keyword research and Google Analytics.
+ **Customer-service driven with ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional team.**
+ **Efficient project management skills.**
Conditions of Employment
+ This position follows a hybrid work structure. Working from the office is encouraged when working on tasks that require a high degree of collaboration. Onsite presence required a minimum of 3 days a week.

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range ( _or hiring range_ ) for this position has been established at $61,858 - $68,369.
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.
The above salary range ( _or hiring range_ ) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.
