POSITION TITLE: Cost Accountant
SHIFT HOURS: 8:00am to 5:00pm
SALARY RANGE: $60,000 to $75,000
JOB SUMMARY: The Cost Accountant will be responsible for the daily functions listed below in the cost accounting functional area. The Cost Accountant will be supervised by the Plant Controller but will work with the ERP Team, Production teams and General Accounting team.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
+ Calculate and Maintain Work Center Rates: Collect and analyze data to accurately set work center rates. Support the development and maintenance of methodologies to allocate overhead cost to products. Review set rates regularly and perform scenario studies.
+ Monthly Reporting: Responsible for preparing the inventory, internal use, and cost of goods sold adjusting journal entries.
+ Activity Measures: Support work centers to achieve more accurate employee tasking and tracking of machine utilization by providing input and creating useable metrics. Review tasking and utilization data on a weekly basis to ensure informational accuracy. Publish to extended teams as needed.
+ Daily Activities: Dispositioning work orders in the ERP system, ensuring that costs are accurately entered into the correct accounts. Work with production teams to identify incorrect data to better understand variances work order to work order.
+ Cost Accounting Representative: Ensure that the interests of the cost accounting department are represented in the introduction of new documents, processes, and new business plans.
+ ERP Continuous Improvement: With ERP Team, identify opportunities and plan for improvement to system integrity. Execute those plans effectively. Assist in business process improvement as identified.
+ Crystal Reporting: Maintain and update current Crystal Reports used by the cost accounting department. Write new reports as needed.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Information Security: Maintain the confidentiality of private financial information.
+ Variance Analysis: When necessary, provide analysis of variances such as standard cost, cycle time, and inventory value.
+ Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
+ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
+ A minimum of two years of experience in cost accounting in a manufacturing environment required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
+ Experienced and skilled with enterprise resource planning software (specifically EnterpriseIQ, if possible).
+ Strong Microsoft Office skills; specifically, Microsoft Excel.
+ Proficiency in SAP Crystal Reports.
+ Strong verbal and written communication skills.
+ Analytical thinker with a strong mathematical aptitude.
+ Creative and self-starting with good interpersonal skills.
