Summary You will serve as a FACILITIES SERVICES ASSISTANT in the CNRSW, Department of Navy of NAVBASE POINT LOMA. Responsibilities You will compile information data for management personnel regarding work order statistics. You will monitor maintenance work requests and determines proper course of action. You will compose correspondence to communicate with personnel regarding maintenance and repairs on projects. You will conduct research of current or past records so appropriate records can be retrieved. You will respond to oral inquiries from internal and external personnel. You will work with external organizations (e.g., Naval Facilities Command, Fleet Industrial Supply Center) to coordinate services (e.g., repairs, hazardous waste handling) or safe operation of marine facilities. You will use computer programs (e.g., Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel) to maintain an automated inventory of equipment or locations for instant ship berthing use. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:1) Maintaining schedules for maintenance and/or repairs of marine facilities and equipment; 2) Insuring ships dispose of hazardous waste in accordance with existing instructions and 3) Assisting with the proper berthing of ships at amphibious loading ramps. Education There is no education requirements for this position. Additional Information (Continued): Incumbent must have the following: Knowledge of berthing facilities and operation . Able to act as pier representative. Able to assist Harbor Pilots with berthing issues. Knowledge in proper bows and platforms use. Able to communicate orally for the effectiveness of pier utilization. Able to have knowledge with office computer programs. Physical Demands The nature of the work requires some physical exertion such as long periods of standing, bending, reaching, pulling and stooping. This is required when preparing berths for ships, conducting inspections and performing other pier maintenance. Work also requires moderate lifting and carrying of objects typically weighing less than 45 pounds. Assistance is requested from others when lifting, carrying and moving heavy, bulky or unwieldy objects. Work Environment Work is normally performed in an outdoor marine facilities environment in all types of weather. Special safety precautions are required when working on/around busy marine facilities with vehicles, watercraft and other machinery.
