The responsibility of the Director is to plan, communicate, and execute an effective product portfolio strategy and plan in cooperation with the product line directors, product specialists, North American sales, senior executives, customer care leadership, finance, and other key stakeholders. The Director is responsible for the North American market for end of line equipment as well as international regions, applying research resources, effort and attention proportional to the current and future opportunity represented by the addressable markets. Key elements of the role in sales funnel development and forecasting working in concert with the sales teams and capacity planning working in concert with the operations managers to maintain reasonable lead times and manage costs. The position is responsible for working with the head of finance to track financial performance; assessing return on investment; evaluating and adjusting strategy and tactics; establishing growth or improvement initiatives to achieve EBIT appropriate to the market conditions, product type and phase of product life cycle. The role includes establishing a go-to-market strategy, selling vs leasing, and aligning the product roadmap with adjacent JBT Business units. Develop and implement a strategic plan for product line(s) that aligns with the strategy to grow earnings Manage a team of application/ product specialists tasked with generating, supporting and executing sales in conjunction with regional sales organization, and generating new business Work closely with sales to close orders / inbound Frequently reviews cost and product positioning, global price list from product manager, and quotes to achieve margin $ targets and grow market share Collaborates with customer care to adjust aftermarket positions on parts pricing or performance that harms new equipment sales prospects Engages with strategic sourcing to focus on highest priority issues such as supply agreements Seeks synergy and efficiency working with teams across JBT Identifies and proposes target acquisitions and participates in the due diligence process Focuses attention on the customer experience and any issues therein - owns the customer experience for the product line and arranges root cause analysis and problem solving where needed to match the JBT Mission, Vision and customer experience objectives. Understand industry/segment trends, customer requirements, and competitive dynamics Research customer product requirements, competitive offerings, and product gaps to determine market needs for new products Sets strategy and provides a compelling vision for the product line, establishing R&D and PLM budget and projects Delivers sustainable competitive advantage through innovation Defends the product line investments with a thoughtful patent, trade market and trade secret strategy working on concert with internal legal counsel Executes in-house or corporate initiatives such as localization of a product to appropriate low cost or high tariff country Acts as final gate keeper, assuring no quote is delivered to a customer or accepted on which the company cannot reliably execute Job Requirements Requires a bachelor’s degree in business administration or similar area of study Preferred master’s in business administration, or similar area of study 10+ years of experience leading strategy for a product line 5+ years supervisory or leadership experience Experience in applications engineering, customer care, sales or technical background in the related businesses and related markets is preferred Strong customer interfacing experience Working knowledge of integrated business systems Proficient in MS Office and general computer skills Willing to travel as needed, both domestically and internationally. Travel up to 50% Work Enviroment Work in a climate-controlled factory Stand continuously for long periods of time Wearing safety clothing and equipment is required Able to kneel, bend, crouch and climb ladders to access various parts of a machine Able to lift-up to 60Ibs Why work at JBT ...
