The Hershey’s Assistant Merchandising Manager, an exempt role responsible for providing a memorable customer experience through visual merchandising within a high-energy retail location. You will be responsible for supporting the sales floor by updating, restocking, managing back stock, and maintaining visual displays and signage. As Hershey’s Assistant Merchandising Manager, you will lead a team to bring the brand and products to life, promoting a heightened level of experience for our customers, while maintaining brand standards set forth by The Hershey Company. The Assistant Merchandising Manager is responsible for leading the daily merchandising activities of HERSHEY’S CHOCOLATE WORLD. Your eye for detail and creativity to create fun, happy displays by motivating, inspiring, and training your team to achieve customer focused goals. You partner with the General Manager on store-wide initiatives that support broader store and company objectives. You will implement company initiatives storewide while supporting the daily needs of the business and communicating those needs back to Hershey’s client services director. As the Assistant Merchandising Manager you are expected to lead by example, connecting with customers, maintaining brand standards, and upholding the policies and regulations set forth by The Hershey Company.
The Assistant Merchandising Manager is designed to create a positive experience that reflects the fun brand image of Hershey’s products through visual merchandising. As Hershey’s Assistant Merchandising Manager, it will be part of your job to be a merchandising role model holding yourself and others to a higher standard demonstrating the joy HERSHEY’S CHOCOLATE WORLD brings to your customers. This is for HERSHEY’S CHOCOLATE WORLD – Times Square.
Essential Functions:
Responsible for all hiring, training, performance management of employees
Create team schedules for optimized store coverage
Partners with Human Resources on employee relations and termination matters.
Recover and replenish the store as needed
Maintain store standards that support the visual presence direction enhancing the customer experience
Execute floor sets and changeovers based on preset planograms and visual communication
Ensure proper signage is displayed and reflects the current in-store promotions and events
Drives and provides an exceptional customer experience when on the sales floor, by always communicating information in a manner that is friendly, fun, and consistent with brand standards
Make suggestions and recommendations regarding The HERSHEY’S CHOCOLATE WORLD products and café services
Create customer awareness of in-store promotions, and personalized products and services
Contribute to a positive work environment by consistently treating all customers, guests, and employees with respect
Implement cross-training of employees and Assistant Managers to maintain productivity at all times.
Maintain proper inventory levels, ensure stocking, implement purchasing plans and maintain contact with suppliers to ensure maximum efficiency in meeting sales goals.
Attending or completing requested training, shift staff meetings, store management meeting and conference calls
Stay abreast of upcoming resets, create reset and restocking plans, maintain and communicate the promotional calendar
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
Engaging personality (Smile Creator)
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain strong working relationships
Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
Ability to move around the store, assist customers and maneuver merchandise when necessary
Proactive, high energy, self-starter, an entrepreneurial “can do” attitude
Strong leadership skills: the ability to give clear direction and lead cross-functional, cross-generational, cross-cultural teams to produce results
Ability to influence/Influencing skills
Must be friendly, outgoing, and confident with an ability to easily build rapport when meeting new peopl
Ability to train, coach, guide and develop subordinates
Collaboration, problem solving, and critical thinking skills.
Action and detail oriented; able to prioritize while handling multiple tasks
Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
Job Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in related field or related work experience
Minimum 3 years of retail/food service merchandising experience
3-4 year of previous management or supervisory experience
Previous flagship and/or high-volume retail or merchandising experience preferred
+ Must be able to work a fully flexible retail schedule to meet the needs of the business, which will require nights, weekends, and holidays
Must be available for late night or overnight resets and restocking
Additional Requirements:
Physical ability to perform tasks that may require prolonged bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, lifting, pushing, pulling, walking, standing, and moving items
Requires the ability to move around the store, assist customers and maneuver merchandise when necessary
