    Summary of Position:

    The Director is responsible for the governance and leadership of the Department. The director is responsible for providing high-quality, cost-effective service within the Hospital. Responsibilities include personnel management, budget preparation and monitoring, and compliance with regulatory agencies. The Director is accountable for the 24-hour operation of the Department. Performs other duties as assigned. Reports to the Vice President, Chief Nursing Officer.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    + Develops an environment of service excellence and standards of work for the Department.

    + Develops, evaluates, implements and monitors departmental policies and procedures, goals, and objectives while maintaining high standards of performance, while ensuring timely delivery of high-quality service at a reasonable cost. Identify areas needing enhancement and implement change within the appropriate time frame and budget.

    + Ensures Departmental compliance with applicable federal, state and local regulatory agencies.

    + Develops and monitors a staffing pattern to ensure optimal service standards and productivity for the Hospital.

    + Prepares, implements and monitors the operating and capital budget adjustments as conditions change.

    + Responsible for providing leadership to personnel; provides feedback to staff concerning their performance; establishes systems for open communication and problem-solving and promotes growth and development in self and others. Develops and documents orientation and ongoing training programs for departmental personnel.

    + Investigates new and improved cleaning equipment, methods and supplies and incorporates updated standards and practice into departmental operations.

    + Develops and implements strategies for inventory management of equipment and supplies; selects and purchases new furnishings; submits recommendations for painting, repairs and relocation of equipment.

    + Develops and maintains quality improvement plans and customer satisfaction programs. Develops processes to improve the customer service skills of staff.

    + Oversees Linen operations for the Hospital and Long Term Laundry, including responsibility for cleanliness, supply, monitoring of usage, tracking and maintaining loss and cost control.

    + Attends and actively participates in department and hospital-wide committee meetings and activities, including, Infection Control and Environment of Care. Seeks opportunities to provide leadership within areas of expertise.

    + Oversees Medical Waste Program and provides oversite for various department-related service contracts.

    + Carries out related duties as determined by the Vice President, Chief Nursing Officer.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Bachelor's Degree required. In lieu of a Bachelor's Degree, at least 5 years' related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong candidates will have management / leadership experience.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, risk of electrical shock and vibration. The employee occasionally works in outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is moderate.

    Salary Range: $100,000 - $130,000 Compensation may vary based upon, but not limited to: overall experience and qualifications, shift, and location.
