About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented New Product Development Quality Engineer (NPD QE) to lead quality assurance activities throughout the product development lifecycle. This role will work closely with Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Test Engineering, and Operations to ensure new aerospace products meet customer and regulatory requirements under the AS9100 quality management system. A strong working knowledge of APQP principles is essential.
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Quality or a related Engineering field.
• 3-10 years of experience in a quality, manufacturing or design environment.
• Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with APQP, DFMEA, PFMEA, Control Plans, and PPAP documentation
• Familiarity with the design process including design reviews and verification/validation activities and/or Familiarity with prototype builds and production launch processes
• Understanding of AS9100 quality system requirements
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to collaborate across departments and levels of the organization.
Preferred:
• ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or equivalent
• Familiarity with SPC and MSA
• Experience in design validation and test witnessing
Responsibilities:
• Participate in design reviews to ensure quality requirements and customer expectations are addressed.
• Lead and support quality planning activities across product development phases, including Design FMEA, Process FMEA, Control Plans, and Process Flow Diagrams, ensuring alignment with APQP best practices.
• Collaborate with Design and Manufacturing Engineering to identify Critical-to-Quality (CTQ) features, drive design-for-quality (DFQ) initiatives, and support manufacturability and process readiness.
• Review and verify Qualification Test Procedures (QTPs) to ensure alignment with design intent and requirements.
• Review, verify, and witness validation and qualification testing, ensuring test setups, parameters, and execution comply with test procedures and design intent; document and escalate deviations as necessary.
• Support and monitor prototype and pre-production builds, partnering with Manufacturing to identify and mitigate quality and process risks early.
• Work with Manufacturing Engineering and Production Quality to define effective process controls and inspection criteria.
• Collaborate closely with Manufacturing Engineers to ensure process readiness and manufacturability.
• Prepare and maintain Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) packages, First Article Inspection (FAI) documentation, and other launch quality deliverables to support internal and customer approvals.
• Maintain compliance with AS9100 quality system requirements, support audit readiness, and ensure traceable documentation throughout design transfer and production launch.
