Job Description:
Primary Purpose of Role:
The Material Planner is an active team member in planning material in the plant based on the sales operation plans and daily inventory. This position is responsible for monitoring the flow of material and availability of components to avoid material shortages and production downtime, as well as manage inventory levels.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Utilize SAP to set planning parameters by part number to optimize inventory levels and assure availability.
+ Communicate daily with internal and external suppliers to ensure adherence to schedules and uninterrupted flow of material.
+ Determine delivery issues and manage MRP exception messages.
+ Monitor external supplier delivery performance.
+ Manage engineering change implementation.
+ Optimize inventory with the objectives of increasing inventory turns, reducing inventory investment, and minimizing excess and obsolete material.
+ Minimize premium freight expense policy.
+ Frequent contact with others outside the work group.
+ Manage internal controls and process risk management requirements.
+ Other duties as assigned.

Competencies and Behaviors:
Required:
+ Knowledge of pull systems / Kanban.
+ Knowledge / experience with SAP or similar ERP systems.
+ Knowledge of scheduling and inventory control systems and processes.
+ Oral and written communication skills..
+ Analytical ability for solving complex problems.
+ Interpersonal skills to work effectively with others, motivate employees and elicit work output.
+ Knowledge of safety and environmental practices.
+ Strong computer skills.
+ Ability to adapt to changes in responsibility based on business needs.
Qualifications:
Required :
+ Bachelors' degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations Management, or related field
Experience:
Required :
+ 3+ years' prior experience. Internship experience considered.
