Aquatics Supervisor, Barrington, IL

_Help lead & grow the swim lessons program, 15 hours per week_

You will be the champion of our swim program, including group swim lessons, private swim lessons, and aquatics based group exercise classes.You will also be responsible for program implementation of swim lessons, budget management, and marketing/communication. The Aquatics Supervisor oversees scheduling, payroll, and leads the swim instruction program.

Schedule: Monday-Thursday 4pm-7pm; Saturday 9am-12pm, opportunity to adjust hours based on client and business needs

Responsible for the recruiting, training, and management of swim instructors. Assists with the development and implementation of programming, staff trainings, and basic aquatic maintenance. Responsible for the key accountabilities and will also assist with lifeguard coverage, swim lessons, and community water safety and aquatic health offerings.

Key Accountabilities:

+ Assist with management and supervision of Aquatic Staff, including: recruiting, training, and scheduling.

+ Serves as a representative for the Aquatic Program, managing phone calls, answering patron questions, facilitating user groups and directing patrons to appropriate staff.

+ Will be responsible for program implementation of swim lessons, budget management, and marketing/communication.

+ Interprets and assists in the enforcement of policies and procedures of the Aquatic Department.

+ Will be the champion of our swim program, including group swim lessons, private swim lessons, and aquatics based group exercise classes.

+ Act as Lifeguard and Facility Supervisor as needed.

+ Assist with facility maintenance and cleaning.

+ Assists aquatic management with current projects.

+ Other duties as needed/assigned.

+ Flu vaccination required

Minimum Requirements:

+ Must have HS Diploma/GED and be at least 18 years of age.

+ American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certification

+ OSHA compliant Adult/Child First Aid/CPR/AED from American Red Cross, American Heart Association, National Safety Council, or American Safety & Health Institute within 30 days of hire.

+ Industry recognized Group Exercise Instructor certification from ACE, AFAA/NASM, ACSM, NCCPT, AEA or NETA; required within 60 days of start date.

+ Experience teaching Water Exercise/Fitness classes.

+ A minimum of 2 years of experience in Aquatics, preferably in some type of leadership capacity.

+ Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.

+ Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Experience developing, implementing and managing community activities and events.

Preferred:

+ American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor (LGI) certification

+ American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Trainer (WSIT)

+ Certified Pool Operator Certification

+ Bachelor’s degree in Recreation or related field

+ Experience with Swim meet event management

+ Ability to be a positive role model for staff and patrons.

+ Must be self-motivated, able to stay on task with minimal supervision.

+ Must be able to prioritize tasks and complete assigned tasks.

Compensation: $20.00 per hour. Additional commission opportunities for someone with an industry recognized and HealthFitness approved Group Exercise certification.
