• Software Engineering Manager

    Introduction

     

    Your role and responsibilities

    Software Engineering Manager, IBM Corporation, San Jose, CA (Up to 40% telecommuting permitted)

    * Lead all aspects of the software development lifecycle, from design and coding to deployment and support, ensuring the creation of reusable, scalable, and high-quality software solutions.

    * Oversee and aid design and implementation of servers, services, applications, and databases that meet critical architecture goals, including large-scale systems and Service-Oriented Architectures (SOA).

    * Collaborate directly with customers to understand their needs, troubleshoot issues, and enable the team to deliver innovative solutions across various industries and sectors.

    * Manage the engineering team, by providing feedback, and career guidance.

    * Conduct periodic and annual performance assessments and support continuous learning and development.

    * Hire and onboard new team members, fostering a collaborative environment through team-building activities and morale-boosting initiatives.

    * Enable the team to design and configure Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Software as a Service (SaaS) application.

    * Lead technical discussions and roadmap planning with stakeholders, and act as a liaison between the engineering department and senior leadership to ensure alignment on project goals and delivery timelines.

    * Communicate project status to stakeholders, identify risks, and devise strategies for risk mitigation, ensuring timely and successful project implementations.

    * Guide the team in designing and developing automated frameworks, processes, and test cases to enable continuous deployment and availability.

    * Provide technical leadership in building high-performance software solutions, from back-end algorithms to front-end user interfaces, ensuring a seamless end-to-end user experience.

    * Utilize: Hadoop User Management, Advanced Spark Support, Machine Learning Algorithms, GitHub, Jenkins, Pytest, OpenSSL, Kerberos.

     

    Required: Master’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering or related (employer will accept a Bachelor's degree plus five (5) years of progressive experience in lieu of a Master’s degree) and one (1) year of experience as a Software Engineer, or related. One (1) year of experience must include utilizing Hadoop User Management, Advanced Spark Support, Machine Learning Algorithms, GitHub, Jenkins, Pytest, OpenSSL, Kerberos. $227720 to $235000 per year.     Required technical and professional expertise

     

    Master’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering or related (employer will accept a Bachelor's degree plus five (5) years of progressive experience in lieu of a Master’s degree) and one (1) year of experience as a Software Engineer, or related.

     

    One (1) year of experience must include utilizing Hadoop User Management, Advanced Spark Support, Machine Learning Algorithms, GitHub, Jenkins, Pytest, OpenSSL, Kerberos.
