Reports to: Head of School
Description:
The Director of Operations and Student Support manages the non-academic operations of the
school and guides the Student Support staff, ensuring our school maintains a positive learning
environment and a culture of high expectations. They are responsible for ensuring the smooth
operation of the school and for coordinating support services for all students.
Primary Responsibilities
Operations:
+ Serves as a member of the Admin Team
+ Supports the admin team in creating and maintaining a safe and welcoming school
+ environment
+ Leads the Community and Culture Committee and coordinates and plans school-wide
+ events for students, families, and other stakeholders in the community
+ Leads the Attendance Team and manages all attendance interventions
+ Supports the day-to-day operations of the school in areas including coverage,
+ transportation, supervision of arrival, dismissal, lunch & recess, and facilities
+ Works with school-based and district-level facilities staff to ensure a safe and welcoming school
+ Supervises a team of non-instructional staff
+ Supports the Head of School with reports, compliance, scheduling, and communication
Student Support:
+ Collaborates with Social Workers, Family Liaisons, and Community Field Coordinators to
+ engage families and support studentsFacilitate the district and school-based behavioral and mental health staff to support our school’s social-emotional well-being and growth.
+ Leads and facilitates a system to gather data on school wide systems to inform school-wide initiatives.
+ Analyzes student success data and collects all necessary progress monitoring data for classroom and school-wide climate and culture.
+ Reviews and analyzes student attendance, academic, and conduct data on a daily/weekly/quarterly basis with the goal of identifying students in need of support and coordinating with Deans, school counselors, and faculty to develop and implement interventions (ex.: Panorama).
+ Serves on the school’s Student Support Team with school-based support staff (nurse,
school counselors, social workers, special education services coordinator, and school-
based clinicians), with the goal of addressing and resolving student concerns.
+ Assists in this coordination of the school’s academic, attendance, and citizenship
recognitions, awards, and ceremonies.
+ Supervises and evaluates select managerial staff and paraprofessionals.
+ Performs other duties as designated by the principal and administrative staff.

+ Communication and management skills necessary to ensure a smooth school operation
+ Ability to create, monitor, and maintain systems that enhance a student focused environment with organizational efficiency
QUALIFICATIONS - REQUIRED:
+ Ability to engage effectively with families
+ Ability to cultivate and maintain relationships with school-based staff and external partners
+ Minimum of five (5) years professional experience working with students in an urban setting.
+ The ability to connect to and work with students using a variety of methods while always maintaining a respectful and caring manner.
+ Demonstrated success working in a collaborative environment; working closely with colleagues and parents.
+ Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, verbally and in writing.
+ Energy, enthusiasm, patience, a positive attitude and a sense of humor
+ Possess a Bachelor’s degree in related field
+ Current authorization to work in the United States - Candidates must have such authorization by their first day of employment.
Qualifications - Preferred:
+ Possess a Master’s degree in a related field.
+ Background in student support.
+ Familiarity with Boston Public Schools disciplinary procedures, inclusive of Aspen, SIS, Panorama
+ Multilingual
+ Previous experience with staff supervision
Terms: Managerial Tier D. This position is subject to the City of Boston residency requirement.
NOTE: School-based managerial employees will work 223 days between July 1st and June 30th each year. The 223 day work-year will include the 180 days in which school is in session, and the additional days will be determined by the employee and the principal or head of school of the school. School-based managerial employees are not eligible for vacation time or compensatory time. In the event of school cancellation due to snow or inclement weather, school-based managerial employees need not report to work.
