    Job Summary and Qualifications

     

    Responsible for direction of patient care in the Medical/Surgical, ICU and Emergency Room care settings. Manages staff members of those units. Consults with staff, physicians, Chief Nursing Officer on nursing problems and interpretation of hospital policies to ensure patient needs are met. Maintains performance improvement activities within the department and participates in performance improvement activities. Ensures patient experience, safety and quality outcomes are consistently maintained in the top quartile. Maintains a constant readiness for regulatory surveys. Is financially responsible to department as related to staffing and supply management.

    In this director role you will:

    + Demonstrate and lead patient care team under their supervision in performing the essential functions of a registered nurse to include, but not limited to:

    + Interpret patient data obtained through nursing assessment

    + Complete comprehensive nursing assessment

    + Identify patient needs and determines who and when patient, other healthcare team members and/or family should be informed

    + Identify when information is missing and obtain needed information

    + Apply nursing knowledge effectively in the synthesis of the biological, psychological, spiritual, cultural and social aspects of the patient’s condition.

    + Utilize information to complete analyses of patient needs to complete the nursing care plan interventions integrated with the overall health plan.

    + Demonstrate appropriate decision making, critical thinking and clinical judgment to make nursing decision and identify health care needs.

    + Identify changes in patient’s health status and report findings as appropriate to other members of the healthcare team.

    + Identify patient signs and symptoms and changes to identify possible emergent situation

    + Intervene on behalf of a patient when problems are identified by reporting and updating care plan as needed.

    + You will be a patient advocate by:

    + Respecting patients’ rights, concerns, decisions and dignity

    + Identifying patient needs

    + Attending to patient concerns or requests

    + Promoting a safe and therapeutic environment

    + You will Communicate with other healthcare team member’s patient choices, concerns, and special needs including:

    + Patient status and progress

    + Patient response or lack of response to therapies

    + Significant changes in patient condition

    + You will Demonstrate the ability to responsibly organize, manage and supervise the practice of nursing by:

    + Delegating tasks in accordance with rules and applicable statues

    + Matching patient needs with personnel qualification, available resources, and appropriate supervision.

    + You will Provide teaching and counseling to patients, their families, and significant others regarding applicable health care regimen, health and medical conditions, procedure, wellness and prevention.

    + You will Demonstrates leadership competencies that strengthen team, function, processes and outcomes. Leadership competencies to include the following:

    + Building trust with team and cultivates a culture of employee engagement, patient experience and physician satisfaction.

    + Setting an example of and holds direct reports accountable for treating all Lone Peak team members, within department and throughout the hospital with mutual respect.

    + Delivering information in a clear, concise and compelling manner to effectively engage other and achieve desired results.

    + Developing and strengthens collaborative relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

    + Leading others to accomplish goals and objectives; provides meaningful coaching and mentoring to increase the capabilities of individuals and teams and drive employee engagement.

    + Making timely, informed decisions that are in the best interest of our patients, employees, providers, and community.

    + Achieving success through change by identifying opportunities for improvement and innovation, removes barriers and resistance, and enables desired behaviors.

    + Driving execution and financial results. Commits to the success and financial wellbeing of Lone Peak Hospital by being responsible for productivity, supply management and access to capital budget. Monitors appropriate metrics related to benchmark and makes appropriate adjustments as needed.

    + Demonstrating an uncompromising commitment to delivering exceptional care and to create feelings of connection and compassion with each patient interaction. Holds self and direct reports accountable to exceed patient expectations very day.

    Minimum Requirements

    + Current State of Utah RN License.

    + BSN required (or actively pursuing), Masters in Healthcare related field preferred.

    + American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) and Certification preferred. Must obtain BLS or BCLS within 7 days of hire and maintain certification.

    + American Red Cross or American Heart Association Advanced Life Support Course (ALS or ACLS) and Certification preferred. Must obtain ALS or ACLS within 90 days of hire and maintain certification.

    + NIHSS- Must obtain NIHSS within 90 days of hire and maintain certification.

    + **Minimum of 2 years of clinical practice in the ICU and or ER.**

    + **Leadership and management experience is highly desirable.**
