    Job Summary and Qualifications

     

    The Director of Clinical Learning provides leadership in the implementation and evaluation of standardized clinical education, clinical learning lab experiences, simulation-based learning, and clinical experiences on assigned campuses. This role ensures high-quality, evidence-based, and regulatory-compliant clinical and simulation-based learning experiences that support student success and prepare graduates for transition to practice. In alignment with Galen’s mission, vision, and values, this position collaborates with staff, faculty, academic leaders, and external partners to advance clinical education.

    Position Responsibilities

    o Provides leadership for the implementation of clinical education, simulation, and clinical learning lab curricula to achieve student learning outcomes.

    o Provides input or collaborates with curriculum to plan implementation of clinical, CLL, and simulation education curricula, supplies, and resources.

    o Leads the implementation of learning technologies in simulation and clinical learning labs on assigned campuses to enhance student learning in collaboration with the Director of CLL Development.

    o Ensures alignment of clinical education with standardized curricula, professional nursing standards, accreditation requirements, and regulatory guidelines.

    o Implements and oversees clinical education policies and procedures in accordance with regulatory, accrediting, and college guidelines.

    o Provides oversight for clinical experiences to ensure adherence to governing body guidelines and alignment with course and program learning outcomes.

    o Oversees clinical contract documentation to ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory standards in collaboration with college, regional, and campus leaders.

    o Leads the implementation of standardized simulation-based and clinical learning lab experiences in alignment with the Healthcare Simulation Standards of Best Practice (HSSOBP).

    o Provide oversight of CLL and simulation laboratory supply ordering processes according to standardized supply formularies, PAR systems, as well as equipment maintenance protocols to support high-quality learning experiences to support standardized student experiences.

    o Ensures continuous improvement of simulation and clinical learning labs based on evaluation data.

    o Oversees the development and maintenance of relationships with clinical partners to ensure high-quality clinical placements that support student learning.

    o Collaborates with campus leadership to evaluate and optimize clinical placements according to educational needs and partner requirements.

    o Provides leadership in new campus openings and establishment of clinical site partners.

    o Orients, trains, and facilitates professional development of the campus clinical, CLL and simulation leaders.

    o Oversees the implementation of orientation, training, and ongoing professional development of the campus clinical, CLL, and simulation faculty and staff"

    o Oversees the implementation of standardized evaluation processes to assess faculty effectiveness in clinical, CLL, and simulation education.

    o Participates in scholarly activities related to clinical education, simulation, and innovative teaching practices.

    o Contributes to evidence-based improvements in clinical education through research, evaluation, and dissemination of best practices.

    o Leads initiatives to assess and enhance clinical learning experiences based on student, faculty, and partner feedback.

    o Provides leadership for budgeting and resource allocation related to clinical education, simulation, and clinical learning lab operations.

    o Identifies cost-saving opportunities while maintaining high-quality learning experiences.

    o Other duties as assigned

    Position Requirements

    **Unencumbered Licensure** : Unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in applicable state.

    **Education** : A Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited institution is required. Doctorate (PhD, EdD, or DNP) preferred. Certification as CHSE, CNE, or CNEcl is preferred and can be obtained upon hire.

    **Experience** :

    + Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a Registered Nurse.

    + Minimum of two (2) years of experience in clinical education, simulation, or clinical learning lab leadership.

    + Previous director-level leadership in clinical education or simulation preferred.

    **Special Qualifications** :

    + Expertise in simulation-based education and clinical learning methodologies.

    + Strong organizational, planning, and project management skills.

    + Knowledge of accreditation and regulatory standards in nursing education.

    + Effective communication and collaboration skills with diverse stakeholders.

    + Ability to utilize technology, data analysis, and learning management systems to support clinical education.

    + Commitment to continuous quality improvement and innovation in nursing education.

    **Physical/Mental Demands & Work Environment** :

    + Requires critical thinking, planning, evaluating, and decision-making.

    + Sedentary work with occasional lifting (minimum 25 pounds).

    + Frequent use of standard office and simulation lab equipment.

    + Must live within the assigned region.

    + Travel within the assigned region will be required

    **Degree of Supervision:** Minimal
