    This Grant Officer will be working in our Office of Sponsored Programs as the primary point of contact for an assigned portfolio of Hospital research departments, divisions, and/or programs. Reviews and endorses research applications for submission to federal, state, foundation, and other nonprofit Sponsors. Accepts awards on behalf of Hospital. Issues, receives, and negotiates subaward agreements to and from collaborating institutions. Administers policies and procedures to ensure the conduct and administration of assigned sponsored programs are in compliance with all applicable Sponsor, government, and Hospital regulations, requirements, and policies. Counsels Hospital research administrative staff regarding proposal preparation, interpretation of sponsor guidelines, regulations, and problem resolution. Serves as the primary interface with federal and nonprofit Sponsors and with peer institutions collaborating with BCH investigators. This is a central office position.

    Key Responsibilities

    + Reviews research applications to ensure conformity with all applicable Sponsor, government, and Hospital guidelines, regulations and policies. Identifies and resolves problems as needed.

    + Assists Hospital research community by maintaining knowledge of Sponsor grant mechanisms and policies. Disseminates information and provides counsel to Investigators and Administrators in assigned portfolio as needed.

    + Evaluates award terms and negotiates changes in agreements with Sponsors and collaborating institutions as needed. Serves as liaison between staff in assigned research portfolio and Sponsor; advocates for researchers’ needs and resolves issues through mediation and negotiation.

    + Performs post award review of activity that deviates from initial proposal. Approves re budgeting and other prior approval requests and/or refers to Sponsor for action. Maintains Hospital records of grant applications, awards, and agreements.

    + Ensures timely renewal of awards and/or orderly closeout of sponsored projects. Facilitates orderly transfer of sponsored awards to and from the Hospital.

    + Contributes to the formulation of policies and procedures to ensure compliance with Sponsor regulations and which respond to needs of the research community.

    + Enters application and award data into the Hospital’s grants management database CHeRP.

    + Works with OSP staff and others to plan and implement updates as well as report problems and/or bugs with CHeRP. Works with OSP Director and Manager to further develop and strengthen the services offered to the research community.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Education:

    + Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Communications or related field

    Experience:

    + 2 years of research grant experience

    + Analytical skills to resolve problems, including budgetary issues. Strong Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is preferred.

    + Communication skills in order to effectively deal with conflicting views or issues and mediate fair solutions and well-developed writing skills
