Description We are looking for an experienced Inventory Analyst to join our team in Long Beach, California. In this long-term contract role, you will play a critical part in managing fuel inventory accounting, reporting, and compliance within the dynamic Oil & Gas industry. This position involves close collaboration with internal departments, external partners, and retail locations to ensure accuracy and efficiency in inventory handling and financial processes.
Responsibilities:
• Monitor daily data entry from retail stores and ensure all source documents are accurately completed.
• Conduct daily variance analysis and investigate discrepancies in accounts as needed.
• Prepare and analyze daily and weekly financial metrics and management reports for stakeholders.
• Manage the import of fuel prices, invoices, drafts, and non-fuel billing data.
• Process and reconcile fuel and freight bills, maintaining detailed documentation for audit purposes.
• Compare fueling transactions with physical inventory to identify and report daily gains or losses.
• Record inventory movements, including transfers and adjustments, in accounting systems.
• Reconcile credit card transactions and ensure compliance with established procedures.
• Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and contribute to month-end financial close activities.
• Act as a subject matter expert on fuel inventory processes and ensure operational compliance. Requirements • Minimum of 2 years of general ledger accounting experience, including balance sheet reconciliations.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and inventory management practices.
• Experience in the retail or petroleum industry is preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or at least 3 years of experience in an analyst role.
• Proficiency in financial systems and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail and organizational abilities.
• Ability to multitask, adapt to change, and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills to support internal and external relationships.
