    As a Water Manager of Projects (MOP), Group Leader (GL) and Project Manager (PM), you will be a leader in improving water and wastewater infrastructure across Hawaii. In general, you’ll engage in challenging water projects including pipelines, pump stations, water and wastewater treatment facilities, and green stormwater infrastructure, leading all aspects from concept stage through detailed design, construction services, and commissioning. You will assist with business development, including strategy development, positioning, proposing, and negotiating contracts to grow our business. You will also establish and maintain strong client relationships by communicating on technical design topics and project schedule/budget/scope to develop long term strategies for continued market success. You will be responsible for leading project teams and communicating between diverse design disciplines for the delivery of designs and related studies.     Specifically as MOP, you’ll be a critical member of the Jacobs Hawaii Leadership, representing the Buildings and Infrastructure Americas (BIA) Hawaii Water Market. You’ll work closely with the BIA Northwest (NW) Water Director of Operations , other Department and Group Leaders (DLs and GLs), and Client Account Managers (CAMs) to provide guidance and leadership within the NW Water group. You’ll use your strong inspirational leadership skills by providing mentoring and career development for PMs, including coaching and improving skills in scoping and budgeting of projects, project execution, and overall client management and satisfaction. As a MOP you will promote inclusion and diversity within the project teams in your portfolio. Ultimately, MOPs develop an environment for the PM’s financial and professional success. You’ll use your passion for focusing on staff management (for PMs) and a desire to focus on helping our PMs to deliver successful solutions for our clients.

     

    You’ll also be involved in working with our CAMs, participating in various sales activities such as go/no-gos, teaming strategies, and middle/end game activities for strategic pursuits. You will be expected to coordinate with Group Leaders (GLs) for staff needs and workload planning. As a MOP, you will drive the delivery of budgeted Gross Margin (GM) for a portfolio of projects and aligned PMs. You’ll enhance GM results by focusing on change management, cash management, prioritizing appropriate geographical staff mixes, and ensuring delivery of high-quality value-added services to our clients. You’ll also review and approve proposal/project contract and fee documents relative to risk management, pricing strategy, and quality assurance. The MOP will ensure adherence to Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) requirements for all projects in their portfolio and aligned PMs. You’ll partner with the Geographic and Performance Unit Financial and Project Controls leads and staff for Business Plan Forecasting and to ensure that Project estimates to completion (ETC’s) are forecasted accurately. You’ll also ensure compliance with all Jacobs financial policies, legal and contractual requirements, procedures, protocols, and work instructions and use of our project tools. Key accountabilities include eliminating/reducing financial surprises, improving clarity around performance expectations, establishing focus on project performance and delivering to expectations, focus on improving gaps in margin and operations performance and drive to achieve a state of quality control rigor and consistency.

     

    As a Water GL, you’ll be called upon to use your inspirational leadership skills to provide mentoring and coaching to Water Group staff aligned to you, including development of annual priorities, career goals, and performance reviews.  You’ll also be responsible for promoting inclusion and diversity within the office and the Water Team, working to ensure that all staff are given meaningful and equitable opportunities to progress their careers within Jacobs. This role will also require you to ensure billability metrics are met by your aligned staff. This is an opportunity to provide leadership and support staff as part of our growing Hawaii and broader Northwest Water team.

    In this role you’ll:

    •    Deliver projects across Hawaii, including conveyance, storage, water treatment, wastewater treatment, and planning.

    •    Provide leadership and coordination to multi-discipline teams.

    •    Manage and/or lead projects in accordance with the contract requirements and Jacobs’ business processes, driving profitability and building new business opportunities.

    •    Support the development of strategies and tactics related to key client programs, projects, and overall portfolios.

    •    Collaborate with cross business market teams to build delivery teams and complete projects and programs.

    •    Work with business development and sales staff in their efforts to position for new opportunities and/or the preparation of proposals.

    •    Promote a culture of caring, quality, safety, and inclusion and diversity

    •    Partner with the operations and sales leadership team to grow and maintain sustainable work pipelines

    •    Develop strategy for hiring and group growth in the Hawaii market and act as the hiring manager

    •    Coach, develop, and mentor staff, at technical and project management levels, to deliver superior results collectively and individually

    •    Build team culture in concert with overall performance unit and company goals and strategy

    Specifically as MOP, you will:

    * Mentor and coach aligned project managers that you will supervise

    * Review and approve Project Risk Register/Mitigation Plans, Project Execution Plans, and Project Quality Plans

    * Conduct monthly Project Reviews on projects and document critical issues and actions

    * Attend Project Administrative Reviews (PARs) as required to discuss with geography and regional leadership about the portfolio that meet PAR thresholds

    * Participate/lead Pricing Reviews for contracts and amendments

    * Review accuracy of ETCs/EACs and address variances or issues with PMs

    * Review and approve project financial workflows

    * Work with global workforce delivery coordinator to engage global staff on Hawaii projects

    * Be responsible for meeting and coordinating mitigation measures to comply with gross margin performance metrics of the portfolio.

    •    Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering (Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical preferred)

    •    Minimum 15 years in the industry with directly applicable project management experience

    •    Professional Engineer license (PE)  (or ability to obtain within 1 year)

    •    Proven experience managing and designing small to large water planning and infrastructure projects

    •    Demonstrated aptitude, ability, and capacity to build and support a team

    •    Must be team player possessing strong social, communication, planning and organizational skills

    •    Affinity to upholding project delivery and compliance processes

    •    Strong understanding of business operations with high executive functioning.

    Ideally, here’s what you’ll also have:

    •    Project Management Professional (PMP) certification by the Project Management Institute (PMI) or demonstrated commensurate project management experience and skills

    •    A strong network with local municipalities or other water/wastewater clients
