Your impact
Jacobs has a fantastic opportunity for a motivated, financially and technically savvy leader to join our Buildings & Infrastructure Americas business as West Region Finance Director. You will provide strategic insights and support to senior management to drive business performance and achieve financial objectives in a fast-growing business unit. In this role, you will lead a team and partner with senior leaders in the organization to drive a successful and transparent financial planning process. You will play a central role in advising on strategic bids and market expansion. You will also collaborate across the wider Finance organization on continuous improvement activities and lead transformative initiatives.
Reporting to the Vice President & Financial Controller for Buildings & Infrastructure Americas, you’ll be a finance partner to the Americas West Region Executive Vice President for Buildings & Infrastructure and their leadership team. You’ll be responsible for ensuring the success of annual business planning, quarterly forecasting, along with timely and accurate weekly, monthly and quarterly financial reports and analysis, financial presentation preparation and ad-hoc analysis for your leadership team. You’ll highlight business trends, develop KPI’s and provide insights to help drive improvement in financial metrics. More than financial leadership, you will be a true strategic partner to your stakeholders. Stakeholder management, being a true strategic partner and ability to synthesize and effectively communicate key aspects to the Americas West leadership team will be key.
You will prepare detailed financial models, ad hoc analysis and forecasts to support data-driven decisions and long-term planning, moving further towards predictive modelling. Part of your role will be to develop and implement an improvement plan to standardize, simplify and where possible automate key processes consistently with Jacobs’s tools and processes to make better use of our existing tools and drive next stage improvements.

This position can be aligned to a Jacobs office based in the US Ideally in the West region.
Here’s what you will be doing:
* Direct all financial activities of the region you oversee by managing and overseeing all operational finance matters.
* Partner with senior leaders on their requests for business operations execution.
* Direct the creation of the P&L budget for a fiscal year and then update monthly/quarterly as required to keep an accurate articulation of expected performance based on bottoms up forecasting methodology. Challenge the proposed targets, suggesting performance improvements, and implementing corrective actions to go back to forecast/plan when required.
* Create a cash flow forecast for the responsible area and directly correlate the amount of cash inflow from client required to support a DSO target. Create DSO targets and challenge and partner the business to achieve them.
* Work with operational partners on DPO matters, ensuring best practice and contractual obligations are met.
* Deliver timely, relevant and accurate weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual financial insight to Finance Stakeholders and relevant Operations partners.
* Accountable to ensure accuracy of revenue recognition, cost accruals, and overhead charges in finalizing the P&L of each region on a regular basis.
* Articulate hours trending to different stakeholder groups by reviewing and describing historical information and providing a future view of all hour’s groups, and how variances can change perspective of forecast.
* Drive, collaborate and identify financial improvement initiatives as appropriate.
* Represent unit and department in internal and external audits.
* Lead and manage a team of finance people, organize delivery, team and individual improvements, and provide leadership, management and training as required.
* Mentor high potential individuals throughout the organization and identify and develop staff in the team for role progression.
* Partner and challenge senior management to develop and pursue strategic financial goals.
* Represent the unit in senior leadership meetings and presentations.
* Drive acumen improvement within your network and wider business partners and their teams.
* Partner with Sales organization for alignment on Sales activity to growth strategy/margin improvement.
* Review major bids for financial accuracy and risk mitigation.
* Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field
* Significant experience in corporate finance within a complex, global professional services organization. Experience in the Buildings or Infrastructure engineering sector is an advantage
* Strong financial analytical skills with a proven ability to interpret and articulate insight to non-financial team members
* Proven track record of driving systematic change to modernize finance tools in large organization helping finance in the journey to move from data to predictive insights
* Strategic thinking combined with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and ability to project manage multiple initiatives
* Strong communication and presentation skills, with the gravitas and ability to convey complex financial information clearly and effectively to a non-financial audience.
* Ability to build strong relationships and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, fostering a culture of teamwork and shared success.
* Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, projects, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
* Proactive and self-motivated, with a strong sense of ownership and accountability for delivering high-quality financial analysis and insights.
* Effectively handle change and work in a fast-paced environment to meet tight deadlines
* Demonstrated passion for inspirational and inclusive leadership along with proven leadership capability and skills
* Proven track record of providing executive and senior management support and working with outside advisors
* Expert-level analytical and problem-solving skills; must be able to proactively engage financial data to make recommendations
* Experience with Hyperion Financial Management and Oracle Planning, or similar
* Experience with Automation and ERP implementation processes will be a plus
