Summary The Enterprise Applications Intern will gain valuable, hands-on experience improving the systems that support our organization’s operations. Responsibilities Job Summary: The Office of the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) provides operations support services and business solutions to the community of 10,000 House Members, Officers, and staff. The CAO organization comprises more than 650 technical and administrative staff working in a variety of areas, including information technology, finance, budget management, human resources, payroll, childcare, food and vending, procurement, logistics and administrative counsel. The Enterprise Applications Intern will gain valuable, hands-on experience improving the systems that support our organization’s operations. In this role, you’ll help evaluate how our current business processes work, identify areas where technology can improve efficiency, and support the design and rollout of those improvements, especially in relation to enterprise service management software tools. You’ll collaborate with experienced IT professionals, apply concepts from your coursework in process analysis and systems design, and build your skills in enterprise software implementation. You may also take on additional projects as assigned by your manager. This is a learning-focused position with no supervisory responsibilities—perfect for someone eager to grow in a supportive, team-based environment. * paid at an annual rate of $36,469 not to exceed 120 days ** The CAO standard business hours are 8:30 a.m.- 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week internship that will require onsite attendance in Washington, D.C. Primary Duties/Responsibilities: Preference given to recent college graduates or those soon-to-graduate who have demonstrated expertise in systems support and/or software development. Responsibilities include: · Participate in a support initiative to streamline user transaction processing, issue tracking, and reporting functions. Help identify common user pain points and propose enhancements or documentation updates. · Create and update business process documentation, including detailed process flows, test plans, and user training materials to support system enhancements and user adoption. · Conduct research to resolve application or business issues, evaluate potential solutions, and present recommendations and supporting rationale to supervisors or project leads. · Assist in developing components/modules and Business Intelligence reports for IT service management applications, using technologies such as HTML, JavaScript, SQL. Learn how platform-specific scripting (e.g., ServiceNow's Glide, Remedy ARS workflow, and Grafana) technologies. · Support efforts to integrate AI-driven tools such as BMC HelixGPT into service management workflows. Contribute to tasks such as configuring virtual agents, training natural language models, and evaluating the impact of AI features on user experience and operational efficiency. · Assist in the design and development of responsive self-service portals or knowledge bases that are accessible via both web and mobile devices. · Support additional assignments and special projects as directed by management or senior technical staff. · Performs other official duties and special projects as assigned. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Requirements: · Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related technical field. · Foundational understanding of IT Service Management (ITSM) concepts, workflows, and ticketing systems. · Familiarity with service management platforms such as BMC Remedy, ServiceNow, or similar tools. · Exposure to web development technologies (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and interest in user portal design. · Basic knowledge of scripting or programming languages (e.g., JavaScript) and willingness to learn platform-specific scripting. · Interest in exploring AI/ML integration within enterprise service environments (e.g., chatbots, NLP, or tools like ChatGPT). · Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to research and evaluate technical solutions. · Effective written and verbal communication skills, especially in translating technical tasks to non-technical audiences. · Comfortable working in a collaborative environment and open to learning from feedback and mentorship. · Ability to manage time effectively, prioritize tasks, and contribute to multiple ongoing projects. **Continued employment is contingent upon satisfactorily completing a criminal history records check (or other applicable security clearance) and a pre-employment drug-test (pre-identified position only) Education Additional Information
