    Academic Counselor

     

    About the Role: We are seeking a dedicated Academic Counselor to join our team. In this vital role, you'll serve as the lifeline for our adult at-risk students, providing comprehensive support that addresses both academic and personal challenges. The ideal candidate combines the professional expertise of an academic advisor with the unwavering dedication and follow-through of someone who truly cares about student success.

    Key Responsibilities:

    + Monitor student attendance and academic progress, proactively identifying at-risk patterns• Develop personalized intervention strategies to address academic, attendance, and personal challenges• Maintain detailed documentation of student interactions and support plans• Conduct regular check-ins with students to ensure they're staying on track• Collaborate with faculty and staff to coordinate comprehensive support services• Connect students with appropriate resources both within and outside the institution• Advocate for students when navigating institutional policies and procedures• Track and report on retention metrics and intervention effectiveness

    Qualifications:

    + Bachelor's degree preferred, ideally in education, counseling, social work, or related field• Understanding of barriers facing at-risk student populations• Exceptional organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail• Outstanding follow-up and follow-through capabilities• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal• Ability to maintain appropriate boundaries while showing genuine care
