    Job Title: Student Accounts Receivable SpecialistJob Description

     

    Join our team as a Student Accounts Receivable Specialist and contribute to the success of our Accounts Receivable unit by ensuring departmental goals are met and operations align with University, Federal, and State regulations. You will play a crucial role in maintaining quality control by auditing refunds, adjustments, cash reports, third-party billing, and monthly collections reports for accuracy and timeliness.

    Responsibilities

    + Ensure due diligence in processing Title IV and Federal Perkins Loan transactions, resolving all reconciliation discrepancies on a monthly basis.

    + Manage all University billings and actively follow up on outstanding receivables to ensure timely collection.

    + Process refunds and adjustments promptly and accurately, ensuring compliance with applicable guidelines.

    + Prepare and submit quarterly write-off lists and the annual tax debt set-off report in an efficient and timely manner.

    + Ensure the accuracy of Perkins Loan fund records in coordination with the loan servicer.

    Essential Skills

    + 2-3+ years of accounts receivable experience in higher education, specifically in areas such as financial aid, bursar, or student accounts.

    + Proficiency in Excel, including basic formulas, sorting/filtering, and add/subtract functions.

    + Experience in accounting.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Strong customer service skills, with the ability to act as a liaison for students, communicating effectively over email and potentially in person or over the phone.

    + Experience working in a bursar's office is ideal.

    Work Environment

    This position offers a 40-hour work week, Monday through Friday, with the flexibility to start between 8-9 am. The role is based at 2003 Rollins Hall, Norfolk, VA, and is expected to last 4-6 months on a contract basis. This is an opportunity to support a large local school through a transition in their bursar's office.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $27.00/hr.
