    Position Summary:

    To maintain and generate third party transportation business, which includes but not limited to retail/wholesale propane trade, asphalt and butane hauling accounts through annual and/or spot agreements. Regional responsibility with direct sales calls to national accounts, purchasing offices, plant and local traffic offices.

    Essential Functions:

    • Generate profitable sales at strategic logistics locations by negotiating sales agreements with customers

    • Negotiate freight rates and develop customer specific hauling agreements or contracts with approval of the Operations

    • Cultivate and develop owner operators and fleet operators within the PTI Transport Group

    • General customer service functions including but not limited to tracing, accounts receivables, customer concern and problem resolution, 3rd party claims procedures.

    • Build and maintain 3rd party customer dossiers. Align accounts according to strategy, build contact method procedures that provides systematic and effective sales coverage. Travel and entertainment expenses to be within budget guidelines.

    • Develop marketing plans with Operations Management

    • Develop company presentations and customer specific presentations and proposals for new and existing customers promoting logistics services and safety

    • Generate weekly sales report and a monthly top ten prospect list. Quarterly

    Open Projects list of bid campaigns and request for proposals

    • Assist in developing the annual transportation plan

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Strong interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills

    • Ability to read, analyze, interpret and communicate regulatory issues, legal documents, financial reports and transportation market information

    • Ability to effectively present information to management, public groups and external business groups

    • Knowledge of DOT Hours of Service regulations

    • Knowledge of tank truck vehicle delivery systems and applications for each product being transported

    • Ability to price transport services effectively and profitably. Knowledge of tariff and contract rate applications

    • Working knowledge in Economics of trucking operations in relationship to regional market conditions

    • Microsoft Office Products intermediate level in Word and Excel

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Logistics or Transportation preferred

    • Three to five years of transportation industry experience with an additional successful track record in sales or operations management

    • Management of a 50-100 account portfolio
