Join an engaging team dedicated to promoting a strong safety culture on-site. As a Site Safety Specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring safety protocols are followed throughout all phases of construction projects.
Responsibilities
+ Review project safety guidelines, site-specific safety plans, and any client-specific safety requirements.
+ Coordinate with the regional safety lead to ensure availability of safety signage and PPE.
+ Confirm that all personnel scheduled to work on-site have completed the required safety orientation training.
+ Gather and organize safety documentation from subcontractors and trade partners, including Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and training certifications.
+ Conduct at least one safety audit per day using the designated digital platform, including annotated photos.
+ Share audit findings and corrective actions with the project team for visibility and resolution.
+ Submit a minimum of two Safety Observation Reports (SORs) per week.
+ Engage with crews and monitor safety practices, spending 60–70% of your time in the field.
+ Attend and contribute to daily huddles, coordination meetings, foremen’s meetings, and preconstruction meetings.
+ Lead or support weekly all-hands safety meetings, including preparation of materials and attendance tracking.
+ Spot-check safety documentation during site visits and review and track safety plans and permits.
+ Notify the project team and regional safety lead of any incidents or near-misses immediately.
+ Assist in incident investigations and review reports prior to submission, ensuring a 'Lessons Learned' summary is created.
+ Conduct site-specific safety orientations for all trade partners and maintain regular communication with subcontractor safety representatives.
+ Participate in or lead planning meetings for high-risk activities.
+ Maintain clear communication with the project team, safety leadership, and trade partners, and be proactive in addressing safety concerns.
Essential Skills
+ 2-5 years of experience in construction safety, preferably in data centers or commercial building projects.
+ OSHA 30 certification, CSP, ASP, CHST certifications are highly desirable.
+ Excellent communication skills and reliability.
+ Experience using ACC Autodesk Construction Cloud.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience in data center projects is highly preferred.
+ Punctuality and reliability to support the project schedule.
+ Must be able to accommodate early start times and work between 40-50 hours per week.
+ Flexibility to remain on-site while active construction is ongoing and to extend hours if necessary.
Work Environment
The role requires alignment with the project's jobsite hours, typically starting at 5:00 or 6:00 AM. You must remain on-site during all active construction hours and be flexible to accommodate extended hours if project needs require it. Required PPE includes a climber-style hard hat with chin strap, high-visibility top with sleeves, safety glasses, gloves, long pants, and hard-soled boots. This position involves 78% fieldwork and 22% documentation/office work, serving as a safety resource, role model, and mentor to promote a strong safety culture on-site.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $80.00 - $95.00/hr.
