    **Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD)** has an immediate opening for a **Human Resources Business Partner Supervisor** located at a negotiable locationin Nebraska. The position closes June 20, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. Central Time.This position will report to the HR Operations and Employee Relations Manager.

    Position Summary

    The incumbent is a working Supervisor, responsible for direct supervision of NPPD’s Nuclear and Non-Nuclear Human Resources Business Partner team and is accountable for support of NPPD’s recruiting and hiring activities, employee relations/field support, and support of other key HR efforts such as legal compliance, key performance indicators/metrics, improvement activities and other key strategic initiatives.

     

    Responsible for ensuring HR Business Partners (HRBP’s) deliver value added services to Business Units and employees, in the areas of talent acquisition, retention, behavior modification, conflict resolution, performance management, succession planning, workforce risk analysis and planning and that they are performing as strategic partners with NPPD business units and bring people perspective to the business unit’s management team. The position will be the first point of contact for the majority of employee issues at a level beyond the HR Business Partners.

     

    Incumbent is relied upon as a standard-bearer and champion of policy and process adherence for the District. Accountability, honesty, and trustworthiness are key attributes for individuals in this role.

     

    Education, Training and Experience

     

    BS or BA degree in HR, business, or related area is required.

     

    SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP), or HRCI Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) credential, OR a master’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field is strongly preferred. Achievement of the SHRM or HRCI certification will be required within two years of acceptance of the position.

    Prior Related Experience:

    This role is an entry-level supervisory position, however prior supervisory experience is desirable. Six(6) years of experience as a Human Resources Business Partner/Representative/Generalist is required. Experience may include generalist activities such as recruiting, employee relations, and other operational HR functions.

     

    Licenses and/or Certifications

     

    SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP), or HRCI Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) credential, OR an master’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field is strongly preferred. Achievement of the SHRM or HRCI certification will be required within two years of acceptance of the position.

     

    Incumbent is required to maintain unescorted access to Cooper Nuclear Station.

     

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities

     

    Provide direct supervisory oversight for the Nuclear and Non-Nuclear Human Resource Business Partners, including providing work direction and making or recommending decisions for hiring, performance improvement, salary administration, and employee disciplinary action, including termination of employment. Ensure the staff is provided with appropriate training and challenging work. Ensure quality reporting standards are met. In addition, ensure development opportunities are provided. Promote the effective use of technology and other opportunities for efficiency and continuous improvements. Perform as a working Supervisor, in order to support the overall workload for the team and to remain knowledgeable regarding HRBP activities and practices.

     

    Maintain a field presence and ensure regular contact with various NPPD locations across the State of Nebraska. In partnership with the Human Resources Operations & Employee Relations Manager, maintain and support external facing recruiting and industry relationships with agencies such as the Nebraska Energy Workforce Consortium (NEWC), Center for Energy Workforce Development, utility industry benchmarking groups, the Nuclear Human Resources Group (NHRG), etc.

     

    Align with the efforts of the Human Resources Operations & Employee Relations Manager on the internal and external staffing and recruitment programs including utilization of the Employment Brand. Responsibility for career fair activities/coordination, internship and co-op programs, adherence to the HR recruiting budget, and any other support activities. Subject matter expert for NPPD position management and overall staffing activities, including coordination with the Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) team and transactional responsibilities within the SuccessFactors program. Responsible for ensuring compliance and consistency of hiring practices through approving and formally extending job offers. This includes verification that all steps of the hiring process are completed fully and accurately.

     

    Ensure that policies and procedures for staffing and administration are compliant with federal and state laws and regulations. Ensure that employee issues are managed fairly, legally, and with the best interests of NPPD and its employees in mind. Maintain general working knowledge of employment law practices, and partner with NPPD’s General Counsel when necessary. Ensure that adequate and accurate employee records are kept for all District employees including employee files, position files, and employee information in the District's HR Information System. Oversee and/or perform: I-9 reviews, job offer reviews, background checks, audit files for scanning accuracy, and of leaving employees for possible repayments and file accuracy.

     

    Lead employee relations investigations and administer subsequent follow up actions as needed.

     

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities (Continued)

     

    Provide backup support to the Human Resources Operations & Employee Relations Manager to maintain knowledge of business unit needs/priorities and ensure processes are effective. Provide consultative resources and coaching to managers and employees on HR processes. Provide HR guidance on all people-related issues and communicate with HR management and NPPD’s General Counsel as appropriate to ensure NPPD compliance and consistency. Support the Human Resources Operations & Employee Relations Manager as needed for grievance processes with non-ADA employee matters, support coordination efforts with the Chief Audit and Ethics Officer and Legal on formal grievances, Employee Committee Programs, and support of Employee Resource Groups on HR-related items.

     

    With the Org Development Manager and the Human Resources Operations & Employee Relations Manager, support efforts to analyze District-wide workforce plans and develop actions related to future workforce/talent needs. Provide guidance to HR Business Partners working with senior and business unit management to support NPPD efforts to manage high risk position replacement plans, succession plans, and a high potential talent pool.

     

    Support NPPD efforts to develop, maintain, implement, and continually improve Human Resources programs including related procedures, instructions, guidelines, and policies designed to meet Human Resources goals, objectives, and needs. Programs include but are not limited to the NPPD Strategic Plan and its specific Human Resources-related objectives, Human Resources Business Plan and Human Resources business processes. Serve as leader and/or team member on special projects within HR. Recommend process/customer service improvements, innovative solutions, policy changes and work with management and key stakeholders for approval and implementation.

     

    Build trust-inducing relationships with employees and management across the District to effectively capture and develop recommendations to promote the voice of the employee into strategic planning. Work in close partnership with Security Management on insider threat mitigation programs.

    **Salary Information** _-_ Nebraska Public Power District offers a competitive starting salary with opportunities for growth. In addition to the base salary range listed below, NPPD employees may also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program (AIP) that may supplement total compensation at a level above and beyond the stated salary range. Successful applicants will be provided more information regarding the incentive program at the time of an interview.

    **Pay Grade -** 15 Monthly

    **Typical Pay Grade Starting Salary Range:** $9,155.00 - $11,673.00 per month

    **Travel Required:** 25% to 50% (With no or minimal overnight stays, less than 3 per month, typically within state of Nebraska) _Travel required may fluctuate by business need. This is an estimate and will be discussed further with candidates that receive an interview._
