Summary:

Under the direction of the Facility Supervisor, a Cleaner is responsible for the cleaning and maintaining of all NJ TRANSIT facilities, and/or properties. Report any incidents occurred as directed by the supervisor.

Roles and Responsibilities :

+ Must be able to perform cleaning duties as follows:

+ Clean and wash the interior of facilities.

+ Maintain lavatories, and replace towels, and other lavatory supplies.

+ Perform janitorial duties.

+ Perform policing of the responsible area during the tour of duty.

+ Perform other cleaning duties as directed.

+ Perform landscaping and snow removal duties needed.

+ Report any malfunctions that may be found while performing duties.

+ Use sweepers/scrubbers and related cleaning equipment.

+ Must have a working knowledge of building maintenance chemicals and procedures and be capable of using same safely

+ Must be able to understand written and oral directions

+ Must be able to work in harmony with fellow employees

+ Must be capable of lifting 40 lbs. of debris

+ Must be able to work with minimum supervision

+ Must be able to move furniture and equipment properly to perform cleaning duties

+ Must be available for emergencies

Education, Experience, and Qualifications:

+ Previous experience in the janitorial preferred

+ Must have a High School diploma or GED from a recognized and accredited school

+ Ability to read, write, speak and understand English

+ Capable of completing forms and carrying out duties of the position

+ Pass the pre-employment physical and background checks (interview, background check and pre-employment medical screening)

+ Must have flexibility to work any shift including evenings, weekends, and holidays
