The College of Music at the University of Colorado Boulder is pleased to invite applications for an Assistant Teaching Professor of Jazz Studies. The initial contract for this full-time position will commence August 14, 2025, end the day after commencement in May 2028, and will be renewable for three-year contract periods thereafter.

Who We Are
The College of Music, founded in 1920, is recognized as one of the top comprehensive music schools in the country. The College of Music offers seven degree programs in over 28 fields of study, at the bachelor's level through the doctorate. Our dedicated and encouraging community of 550 degree-seeking students, 70 full-time faculty, 30 part[1]time faculty, and 40 professional, technical and administrative staff produces over 350 performances and numerous guest lectures, masterclasses, and outreach events each year.
The Thompson Jazz Studies Program is a creative and engaging program offering BA, BM, MM, and DMA degrees in jazz studies. The program supports the CU Concert Jazz Ensemble, the Thompson Latin Jazz Ensemble, and multiple jazz combos.
What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
+ Teaching in areas of expertise including directing jazz combos, and teaching jazz studies courses such as Jazz Theory and Jazz History.
+ Weekly Applied lessons.
+ Serving on graduate student committees supervising thesis and dissertation work.
+ Active participation in recruiting prospective students.
+ Serving on College and University committees.
+ Participation in shared administrative responsibilities.

The appointment is expected to begin on August 14, 2025.
What We Can Offer
Salary will be $60,000 per academic year. Onboarding assistance is available within department guidelines.

What We Require
+ Applicant must have a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Jazz Studies.
+ At least three years of experience teaching jazz studies at the collegiate level.
